The Haydn Trumpet Concerto was written in 1796, but it wasn’t premiered until March 28, 1800.
The four-year delay before the premier likely occurred because Weidlinger needed more time to perfect his trumpet design, and the concerto showed off some cornerstone achievements of the new trumpet.
Chromatics and major scales in the low register were just two advantages of the new trumpets. The piece ushered in a new future for the trumpet as a solo instrument with virtuosic capabilities. At any rate, the audience members in attendance at Vienna’s Royal Imperial Theater (the Burgtheater) on March 28, 1800 were shocked by the new capabilities of Weidinger’s trumpet.

@@Mudd-bo5kk What is exactly with the 16th? Are they too fast for tonguing? If that's the case try to use softer tongue attack and let the air flow guide your frase. You might try the high eb an octave lower at first. Use a crescendo towards the Eb. If you close your air you will notice that you compensate with your arm and press too much. If that's the case try singing it with a crescendo. Then use only air. Try legato too. But the air is the key to unlock your high Eb. Do some air exercises too.

About the high note, unfortunately you csnt do anything about it without the stamina so dont worry about it, it will come eventually you play only 3 years I play for 8 and cant hit it consistently, and about the 16th play them in the lower register and gradually go higher practice it in different rhythms dont overpractice the high register it will do more harm than good try binding the first 2 16ths and double tounge the 2 other but for that you need good controll in the upper register Edit and the high eb is not the most important note in the piece some people focus so much on it that the other notes will come out like shit focus more on the notes leading up to it and if it comes it comes if not than dont worry about it and just move on during the performance

The 'Double Exposition' sonata form concerto from the Classical period often didn't have a development section. Rather it had a 'free fantasy' section, such as the small one starting around m85. The recapitulation, however is pretty clear here at m126. We're most definitely back home.

That looks like music for a B-flat trumpet.

Yes, it is played on a B flat trumpet. In Europe is very common Haydn to be played on a Bb trumpet.

@@RJ12347 Depends on your level, I can play it fine on a Bb. Easier on a C trumpet, but it is great fun to challenge yourself a bit more as well

Der erste Ton in Takt 8 und die folgenden Signale sind obligatorisch. Haydn hat sich damit einen sehr intelligenten Scherz gemacht. Das kann man nicht einfach ignorieren und weglassen. Wenn man das nicht weiß, fehlt etwas, sorry to say that! Und immer wieder diese uralte Kadenz? Echt jetzt? Insgesamt natürlich gut geblasen, keine Frage. Aber gerade die Chance nicht anzunehmen, die eine Kadenz zur Selbstentfaltung bietet, eigene Musikalität und Schöpferkraft zu zeigen, das ist sehr schade und hinterlässt den Zuhörer mit der Frage: Kann er wirklich nicht? Ich weiß, er könnte. Schade drum!

Diese Kadenz, genau so geblasen, passt immer noch am besten zu diesem Werk, wie ich finde. Kannst ja mal Deine Version hochladen…
