Never, never heard of this man, but thanks to you, I know him now. What a beautiful, clear voice. Thank you for sharing this rare video. Only GOD knows where folks find these or have them and willing to share them, instead of disappearing for ever. Did a google on him and not only added him to the list of great tenors, but great Jewish tenors, with Richard Tucker and Jan Pierce. I'll be listening to Mr Schmidt. Thanks again.

Tous les grands ténors italiens ont chanté ces célèbres chansons Napolitaines, ceux du passé, B.Gigli, T. Schipa, Lauri Volpi et beaucoup d'autres encore...et ceux d'aujourd'hui, G. Di Stefano,(bien que la carrière de Di Stefano remonte aux années 50) L. Pavarotti, R. Alagna. Mais à mon avis, malgré l'admiration que j'ai pour ces chanteurs, aucun n' est aussi émouvant que Joseph Schmidt. Il suffit de l'entendre dans"Mal d'amore" pour ressentir une émotion que seule sa voix peut susciter.
