Ironic, a free Mason as Joseph who tried to find protection from masons, was left alone from the brotherhood in many instances of his life. Read about the beginnings of masonry, the founders had to change their history about how to be more efective in bringing more people into the brotherhood. Read how little Joseph knew about the Mason's deep rituals. By the way, Joseph Smith was a true prophet of GOD. You're expecting that Joseph Smith's father blabbed everything to Joseph Smith? You really think he would violate his obligations as a Mason? Hyrum Smith also was a Mason. Some called him a "High Mason" but do you really think he would violate his obligations as Mason? For what purpose? What genuine, primary evidence have you for that? Then again, a lot of what has been claimed about the Masonic connections has been utterly without merit. Frequently, the starting point for the claims and comparisons have been from rituals in which Joseph Smith couldn't have participated, such as from older versions of the Scottish Rite (there also was no Scottish Rite in Illinois until 1846), or from Monitors published in 1860 or later, or from obscure rituals or organizations of which Joseph Smith would not have been aware. Anyone can take snippets of text out of context from various sources, rearrange them, and then claim that they are direct evidence of borrowing. Are there some elements that have a certain amount of correspondence? Yes. But is one just a copy of the other? No. Not at all. An apostate from the Church, Fanny Stenhouse (whose husband also was a Mason at one time), said the following about such claims: "I has always been commonly reported, and to a great extent believed, that the mysteries of the Endowment House were only a sort of imitation--burlesque, it might be--of the Rites of Masonry; but I need hardly say that this statement when examined by the light of facts is altogether ungrounded and absurd...." @@OmegaMan28 No, he did not. We know the exact dates when Joseph Smith was initiated, passed and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason. He never went on to participate in anything else beyond that. Besides, in fact, there was no Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in Illinois until the year 1846. That was four years too late. The proof texts you have in mind actually have at their root mistranslation and misunderstanding, as well as being taken from their historical and cultural contexts. Several times the Bible says that people saw or will see God (Moses, 70 of the elders of Israel, Isaiah, Stephen, angels of little children, those who are pure in heart, and those who will dwell in the city of New Jerusalem). And that passage in Isaiah that you have in mind comes from a section of Isaiah that has been rewritten so many times by scribes, and interpolated, that many scholars have come to believe it was written by a different author, and that the Book of Isaiah was written by two or more authors! Freemasons didn't establish the "Mormon" religion. It was established by non-Masons before many members of said Church later became Masons. Joseph Smith was the one directly involved in and leading the organization of the Church. That is historical fact.

They are not condemned but this is not God's method but rather that of men. Freemasonry members are Gnostics and worship who they call the creator of the universe and it is not revealed until the 33rd degree that this is Lucifer. Since they are obligated to follow the orders of their worshipful masters, the pyramid structure is headed by Lucifer and so all Freemasons are Luciferians by default. They use human sacrifice to control all of mankind. It originates in the apostate church which is Babylon from the Book of Revelation. They use Freemasonry to control all pulpits that I have witnessed, openly having to display the hidden hand, the single finger in the air, the OK sign or the pyramid when they bring their hands together. Another common symbol is the use of black and white color combinations or orange which stands for 33rd degree. Scripture says that the wink of the eye is used to denote evil. Their signs and symbols are to send messages to one another. It alludes to hidden or secret knowledge which is the basis for Freemasonry. You should also be aware of the Kundalini Spirit which is a the serpent spirit. It is common to use words and spoken messages with hidden meanings shared only with those in the know. They like especially to spell words in reverse. None of this is has anything to do with Christianity. It is Satanic witchcraft trying to plant ideas trying to accomplish mind control with subliminal messages. They control FEMA which is the hidden government. All should repent from this system that forms the beast.

@@BrandonCole_edohi I don't know if you know this but I think you will find it interesting. There is a church I believe its Italy that has art up on the ceilings and it very much looks like what goes on in the Temple. As you study about Free Masons you find that they were an organization that would do special rituals in Catholic and Christian chapels. As time went on as with all the doctrine of Christ it got corrupted. Also there is history books written by Christians dating around 300 AD and they talk about Temple clothing. You also find that the Masons did design for all the old chapels for the Catholics and Christians. It wasn't till around 1351 when Pope Leo said they were of the devil they become much like they are now. They went into hiding because after that it was off with your head or a burning to the stake. So Masons continued on as a secret organization much like it is today. This is also why when Josephs version of the temple rituals is of God first Joseph revealed the temple endowment before he became a Mason, second the differences are many sure it has similarities to Masonry and you now know why.
@BrandonCole_edohi4 жыл бұрын
@@BOON70 Regarding the ancient sources which you've referenced, correlation does not equate to causation. Stone Mason guilds were contracted to build; it wasn't until gothic architecture started going out-of-style that they became speculative Masons. Joseph did adopt the Masonic teaching model (theatrical presentation, mnemonic devices, illustrative symbols, etc.) and adapt it to teach the Church's already-existing doctrine. However, the subject matter, context, and purposes of the Church's temple endowment ceremony wholly differ from those of the degree ceremonies of Freemasonry.

Well, they aren't exactly the same. In fact, there are signs in the LDS temple ceremony that have no counterpart in Freemasonry. Of course, if a temple patron gave the tokens wrong, the first two would be identical to those in a Lodge. But if given correctly they are not even the same. The other two are not identical or even close to anything in Masonic rituals. Sad thing about the attempts at drawing parallels is that text has to be sifted around and taken drastically out of context to make the parallels look closer. Worse, a good amount of such material is taken out of a book published in 1860, and that is too late to be of use. Even worse, this latter material was part of two Rites to which Joseph Smith never belonged.

Plus nobody alive today knew him. His own writings are available and there are some of his posterity with journals. But it would be like saying when someone writes a book we should get to know everything about them, their whole life should be on show. That isn’t what’s important. What they wrote in their book is. I hope I’m not coming off as rude. It’s just too easy to get caught up in Joseph Smith himself, which you would never still really know him. Dissect the gospel of Jesus Christ and test it. Another great commandment is Matthew 5:48 “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” I can tell you myself, this is probably the hardest commandment to keep. How great is it then that our Father in heaven in merciful! Nobody said that we’re earning heaven. If that was the case nobody would make it. It’s God’s mercy and grace, it’s Christ’s sacrifice and love that saves us. Life is more than just being a decent person and praising Jesus. It’s about aligning your will with the Fathers, keeping his commandments, serving others. It’s about becoming like our savior, and Heavenly Father. If this is not the case then why does God care? Why create this marvelous world, our bodies, our spirits, only to make a few happy forever? Heaven is so much more than joy, it’s so much more than just peace and goodness. It’s inheriting everything the Father has through Jesus Christ. “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

This seems to be glossing over the overwhelming similarities of the Masonic rituals to the endowment ceremonies, which are nowhere to be found in the Bible. How can anyone think that Heavenly Father would, all of a sudden in Joseph Smith's day, require Masonic clothing, Masonic terminology, Masonic handshakes and grips, in order to be with Him? Would He test their memory in order to show "worthiness"? How many members of the church would stop their tithing if it wasn't a requirement to go to the temple? It seems that this ceremony is a convenient way to get money from members.
@lowdethan67094 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Not to mention it's a whole other religion. So why allow Mormons to be part of a different religions? Doesn't that go against and violate the commandments of the bible of no false idols or other gods before him?
@cpt.walker62734 жыл бұрын
I have heard others talk about tithing this way before. My thought is this. If it was considered "robbery" in the New Testament (Malachi3:8) to NOT pay your tithing, then one could pay tithing so as to not rob God. Also, one could pay tithing to receive the blessings mentioned in verse 10. Do I pay tithing to enter into the temple? No. I pay tithing to build up the kingdom of God, receive blessings, and to be obedient to God's commandments. On the other subject. God uses simple things to help us follow and return to Him. As an example, in order to live, after being bitten by "fiery serpents", one only had to look at a brass serpent Moses made on a pole to survive the bite. Why? I think it was so the people could show faith in God. Besides, who's to say that Satan did not copy ancient temple rituals and distort them into Masonic rituals. I mean we know that anciently baptisms for the dead where preformed. (1 Corinthians 15:29) And lastly. God does not test worthiness thru memory. You are mistaken in that concept.

Both as a temple-endowed member of the Church and as a Freemason, I wholly disagree with the premise of your comment here. The similarities between the Church's temple endowment ceremony and the degree ceremonies of Freemasonry are both few and superficial. Joseph adopted the Masonic teaching model (theatrical presentation, mnemonic devices, illustrative symbols, etc) and adapted it to teach the Church's already-existing doctrines in its temple endowment ceremony. The subject matter, context, and purposes of the Church's temple endowment ceremony wholly differ from those of the degree ceremonies of Freemasonry. Regarding the Law of Tithing, it is a lesser law which we are currently required to obey; this is because the membership was not found to be ready for the Law of Consecration. I'm sure that there were some who said the same about tithing in Abraham's day and many who said the same about giving up all possessions in Christ's day as what you've said here. However, tithing donations today are used to build and maintain our buildings as well as to keep the Church self-sufficient.

@@Pound_Shift When Jesus Christ said, "It is finished," He was referring to his Atonement, and not the total work of God, which is evident from the fact that He returned after His resurrection and charged His disciples with carrying on His work in His Church. @@Pound_Shift Actually, Jesus implied that the visible Church would die. That is the underlying thought regarding the gates of Hades not prevailing against the Church. The only way to face those gates is from within, and the only way to get through them to do that is in death. The key, however, was that the Church was not to stay dead. The latter is what is implied by "shall not prevail against it." The idea of the apostasy and restoration fits perfectly within the underlying meaning of what Christ promised.

Jesus Christ says that He is the true, and new temple. His life on earth allows us to "enter into Him". To abide in him. "God incarnate" is synonymous with "Temple" as Christ in human form solves the problem of the temple's limitations. Before Christ, humans needed a temple building so they could walk into the divine- or heavenly presence. Christ walking on the earth was the same heavenly presence of the temple- but in a human body. Since Christ ascended into heaven, he gave us the Holy Spirit to enter in us so that we can always be living filled with that divine temple presence wherever we go- so long as we turn to Christ alone as our only divine source and stay repentant. If we want, we can still worship in our temple buildings and try and get divine presence to dwell in them but, it becomes impractical and excessive- if all that work can be done because of what Christ already is for us- and in us. I am 74 years old now and was told by my father, when I was a young boy, another reason about this issue. When Solomon's Temple was built (957 BCE) those of his followers began using the Temple. However walls around the Temple were still being built. It was then that the "Masons" building the walls around Solomon's Temple observed the ordinances and that was how they created a version for themselves. Maybe someone could tell me - when was the Free Mason organisation originated? I found this in Wikipedia " The earliest known ritual places the first masonic lodge in the porchway of King Solomon's Temple"\

Ok. So basically, masons up to a certain point were literally stone mason unions. these were called "operative masons" , they began to form lodges as a place to care for those injured on the job and to provide a community for these guys. at some point, no one quite knows when or why, they started accepting people who weren't actually stone masons, but curious intellectuals, ect. these became speculative masons. The Lodge of Edinburgh (Mary's Chapel) No. 1 seems to be the oldest that hasa direct line to operative masons

I also loved that, "Based on their experience with both, they (early members) concluded the temple ceremony was of divine origin." Similarly, the Book of Mormon is written in an approximation of Early Modern English, the language of the King James Bible... a form of English that _nobody_ had actively spoken in over a century, especially in the USA. In _both_ cases, the similarity serves an effective _marketing_ purpose. As psychologists have thoroughly documented, that which is _familiar_ is more readily _accepted!_ The biggest _difference_ between the two ceremonies is that Masons pledge to engage in actions that promote the betterment of _society,_ while LDS Church members engage in actions aimed at the exaltation of their _own_ souls. Certainly the Baptism for the Dead ceremony is for the sake of those who have already died, BUT unless one engages in such activity, one cannot reach the Celestial Kingdom, so the motivation is _still_ selfish.

It comes directly from the tower of Babel, Nimrod and buddies who build a tower pretending to get to haven and kill God, have children who are still hard at work. Since the devil could not do it in the war of heaven, his children promised, they will. So at the tower the languages were confounded and signs, and symbols became the preferred way of communicating among those involved in killing God after no one could understand one another. Today, all churches have a stipple on their church roofs, signifying the tower they have built so long ago, but now instead of killing God, which is not possible, kill spiritually His children. Also with obelisks, mighty tall towers, and stipples on churches they are as middle fingers pointing to God's throne. Truth is stranger than fiction. Mormons are as lost as the Ark of the Covenant. The name of the Church has been the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1838. "Mormonism" has always been a nickname. This video isn't meant to convince anyone to join the Church of Jesus Christ; it's just providing helpful insight.

A few who are Latter-day Saints and Masons who provide appropriately sensitive deeper dives into the relationship between the Latter-day Saint temple and Freemasonry include: Greg Kearney, Mark Koltko-Rivera, and Ted Cross.

@@KTPurdy Sadly, some of Homer's stuff is a bit misleading. Frankly, I don't understand that. He connects Joseph with two obscure Rites that weren't even in America at the time, and were thousands of miles away. And, when I looked into the rituals of the Adoptive Rite, they had nothing even remotely like what is in the LDS temple ceremony. Like I said, I don't understand why he tried to make such connections.

I knew he was a mason finding Egyptian scrolls, having them translated and saying god spoke to him. They have done this several times in history, not giving Africans proper credit for their writings and knowledge.
@zanelegeire86834 жыл бұрын
Out of curiosity, who is "they", and what are the dates/times/places in which on "several" occasions Africans (Berbers? Abyssinians? Yemenites? Ghanaians? Bantus? Congolese?) were not awarded proper credit for writings/knowledge. If you wish to argue that the various cultures and civilizations that have gone to make up the MASSIVE human presence in the African continent have gotten short shrift in terms of contemporary written history, then you have a valid point. However, I can not recall a single moment in the brief history of the LDS Church when someone attempted to claim credit for something that an African-based Civ. was clearly responsible for. As in ever. I do get where your coming from, Ms. Kennedy, but would like to see something a bit more specific. Cheers.

🧭 The Mason's Carpenter's Compass (Arch) over a Carpenter's Square (Angle) has references to The Carpenter's Son Jesus and Arch + Angle = Archangel. With a Carpenter's Compass being used to make Circles - a Symbol for Heaven. While a Square is a Symbol for Earth. With Two Carpenter's Squares joined Corner to Corner making a Crucifix. With a Circle over a Crucifix making a ♀️ A simplified Egyptian Ankh Key 🗝️ of Life - God's Eye Symbol. With the Bible being translated from Egyptian Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek. With there being many more Godly teachings, within the Mason's Symbology. And Ephesians 6:12 Clearly states we are in a Spiritual War. People are too reliant on what other people say. Instead of prayerfully asking to our Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus. To know what is true, by The Holy Ghost. 🙏

Yea, nothing weird about some guy hijacking the Gospel and creating a new Religion with it and adding a new book to go along with it and if you thought that was normal, it gets even more basic. The same guy has a brother AND FATHER who are both Freemasons, yep, nothing weird about that at all.

I have met people with similar concerns. What IS the gospel I ask? We believe the gospel to be 1. Faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ 2. Repentance 3. Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins 4. Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost and 5. Endure to the end (that is to say keep having faith in Christ and keep the commandments to the end of your life. Repentance is not a one-time thing). Does this sound any different from the teachings of Christ? No. It is the same. Both Bible and Book of Mormon teach of these things. I testify that the Book of Mormon and Bible are true.

Thank you for this solid overview of the Joseph Smith-Masonry connection. Those who look into it more deeply will find Joseph Smith left the Masons because he found they had become corrupted. I have inferred for many years that he was led to become a Mason in order to prime him for revelation that extended far beyond the radar of Masonry. In this there is a subtle endorsement of the idea that Masonry has indeed safeguarded truths over many centuries.

@stevenpratt69864 жыл бұрын
@@Hallowed_Ground I would not make a general recommendation to study Masonic history. From what I've gathered from a handful of researchers, the valuable part of what Masons have "safeguarded" (accidentally not altered or lost) over the years is found in dusty, seldom-viewed books, and the valuable portions of those books can be summed in a few paragraphs. A high level of scholarship and a great deal of spiritual discernment are necessary to sort that all out throught this direct approach. I've read that Masons claim a heritage of wisdom dating back to Solomon, or Egypt, or one other figure I won't mention yet. From an LDS perspective, any truth Egypt had came from Abraham and/or Enoch. What was revealed then can be revealed again, in its right time. Luke 8:17 “For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.” I would argue that God's people in different centuries require different components, or facets, of the truths available from heaven. No people can bear it all, we mortals are clumsy that way. So some of the truths that were appropriate for the City of Enoch, or the Saints the New Testament days, might not be appropriate for us right now. I believe that seeking to force "missing" truths into the view of the Church at large will be hard going. The time must be right for each concept, following the line upon line principle. However, individuals who feel drawn to look into this will find themselves rewarded. These are the people who don't ask for permission. I know a couple of them, not specifically regarding Masonic history, but other facets of our spiritual heritage. And one more thing. Eccl 1:18 reads, "For in much wisdom is much grief, And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow." From the sliver of understanding I have about these matters, I can say that this advisory is in full effect here. There is much to mourn, and much to forgive, when learning about what our clumsy, mortal forefathers fumbled in their day, leading to much suffering and darkness that we struggle with still. It is not for the faint of heart to learn about such things.
@BrandonCole_edohi4 жыл бұрын
It should be noted that Joseph *opined* that Freemasonry was a corrupted form of priesthood. However, this was never recorded in the Church's doctrinal canon. It should further be noted that Joseph only adopted the Masonic teaching model (theatrical presentation, mnemonic devices, illustrative symbols, etc) and adapted it to teach the Church's already-existing doctrines in the temple endowment ceremony. Its subject matter, context, and purposes wholly differ from those of the degree ceremonies of Freemasonry. It should finally be noted that Joseph never resigned or demitted from Masonry. He died as a Mason in good standing.
