I am crowned Obatala. My mother in ocha is Yewa. Everyone kept telling me how rare this is. Glad to hear some stories about her.

Thank you for this episode. I was just thinking of how painful it must have been to go from being the keeper of a garden filled with life and animals to being banished to a place with only death. And all because she was seduced and betrayed. It's tragic to say the least. I don't think I've ever been so saddened by a pataki.

I know 2 women who are crowned direct to Iyewa/Yewa in Tampa, FL. They are both such beautiful women and so kind. I have met a man was marked Yewa but because of the Lukumi understanding of her he was crowned Obatala with Yewa as his mother.

She's called the Arugba (translation; the one who carries the calabash on her head) the girl that leads the procession to Osun groove in Òsogbo, the virgin that carries the huge calabash on her head is called the Arugba.

Wow. I always felt I resonated with Oshun with as much research I gathered until I experienced heartache. After that said heartache I changed in ways I never thought would happen to me, I see the good in people but my past problems was I would expect them to act how I knew they could instead of accepting what was right in front of me and moving accordingly. I decided to go back to school and I had this whole Elle Woods attitude from Legally Blonde, for crying out loud all of my stuff was hot pink/magenta. I was never really a pink girly, my colors have always been red/gold but I started to really loooovvveee magenta and choosing to embrace that feminine side where its not too girly to like pink. Lol. Anyways, I had been practicing abstinence for close to a year before meeting my “shango” and have gone back to practicing it since the split, two years strong now. Ive learned my power in abstaining from those temptations and am definitely waiting for the right one for me. Today is my first time hearing and learning about Yewa, there was an astrologer reading a document comparing Virgo to Persephone so I looked up an Orisha equivalent to her and came across Yewa, I cried the first 15 mins of this video, it hit hard lol

Iboru Iboya Ibo Chiche...Thank you for this podcast. Although I have Yewa from Cuba, I was not really taught anything about her other than to keep her away from other orichas and men. How do you take care of her?
I'm crowned w/ Ocute but GA is Orisha Oko. He's still the most mysterious orisha to me and confusing. I love contrast but how is it Ocute is the witch of all witches, I was told, yet Orisha Oko was the one who determined the witches that would be hung? I know this is not this particular podcast topic but would love to hear about Orisha-Oko in future from you. Thank you for your teachings Oluo, OmiKunle
