Wow! Bear is huge! What is the biggest and smallest mink you've hunted with? Apart from being able to access different areas because of size, do size matter in how efficient they are, or is it down to just prey drive?

I believe the largest is probably Bear (he is roughly 5 lbs. The smallest was a friend's mink who's name escapes me (she was a little under a pound). Prey drive and confidence are the biggest factors by far, but size does have a significant impact as well. When you have a 4 lbs mink going after a 2 lbs muskrat, it doesn't require NEAR AS MUCH prey drive and confidence as it does for a little 1 lbs mink to take on the same 2 lbs muskrat! But having said that, even a great big 5 lbs mink will be a poor muskrat hunter if he doesn't have a good solid amount of drive and confidence. Temperament is by far the most important factor, but size does play a roll as well.

Not Joseph but he's mentioned that he very rarely sells his own minks. Only to his real life friends and he'll make a few exceptions if you read his book, prove that owning a mink is right for you and the mink, and that you're serious about taking proper care of it.

I would suggest having "Bluetooth tags" on your minks, it makes it easy to locate them and, they are pretty cheap and useful. God bless you and good luck.

I'm curious, if you don't want the mink to eat the muskrat, why do you put them in the carrier together. Wouldn't the mink be tempted to take a bite on the ride home, even if it's been fed?

I remove the muskrat after the mink has eaten. I put them in the carrier together so the mink trusts me, and doesn't worry about me stealing his catch.

You really dont waste time :) The framerate of the camera in 6:58 is quite low, first i was thinking whats wring as it wasnt pleasant to watch the movement then realized its the low framerate, im the next cut noticed a better framerate and understood i was right. Otherwise, thanks for the video, subscrived because of the fights, the bigger the muscrat the better. What happends in the struggle when they face each other in a narrow tunnel? My only muskrat story...in 1936 when FDR was running again, it was noticed that a guy living " down by the river"... Mississippi... voted for FDR 3 times ( easier to do back then ). When asked why, his answer was "tired of eating muskrat".
