Dogs doing what they were bred to do and LOVING it, poison-free eradication of pests, rescued minks, live rats and mice being used for reptile food. I'm such a crunchy vegan but I love this whole process!
@DOGSDOGGER5 жыл бұрын
I respect your outlook. You made a personal life decision but still openly acknowledge and praise the less palatable parts of nature and pest control. You're right, these dogs are doing exactly what they were bred for and living happy healthy lives for it, while helping us humans out at the same time. With a minor stretch of the definition, this is the most humane way to possibly control rats, because they would have been taken out by a fox or raptor the same exact way anyways.

Back in the old days if a dog was useless, it was put down, if it was too mean it was put down. Every person including our dogs and cats was a contributing member of the family. I don't get people who raise their pets to be such useless animals these days. I laugh at people who brag 'this is so-and-so, a mixed whatever, he can roll around and sit! I'll be like, does it kill pests? Does it attack intruders? will it protect you from would-be robbers or a crazy person who randomly assaults people???? NO, but it can roll around in the dirt!!!! Put it down! You'll be better off with a 30-year-old son that lives in your basement!!!
@nevermore72855 жыл бұрын
Rice V Well, for one, many people find use for them as companions. People who aren’t very social still need some for of contact with other living things and pets do that quite effectively. They are hardly “useless” in such regards and are what stop some people from going into total seclusion. And while he may be terrified of everything, he does bark quite loudly when people he doesn’t recognize are anywhere near that house that he can see or hear, so he does make a good alarm system. The thing that does get on my nerve is how people breed dogs with the traits that make their lives uncomfortable or miserable, and people who treat their pets like little more than accessories or shows of wealth. There’s no point to either of those, and while hardly think they should be put down, they should never had been breed for with such goals in the first place.

It beat the crap out of visiting dogs who thought my house was a place they could visit until my cat "Spunky" went to work. Crazy strong, crazy fast, and mostly feral. No she was doing really good and great work but I think they needed to give him A 5 minute break to freshen up say each round for the dog's. Also by the way she was reacting was like she was starting to feel pain by the rats biting her and making her bleed everytime she would grab one so she would let it go and let the others do it. It's like going to the dentist with he sticks 1 or 2 needles in your mouth or lower lips to make it numb but you're still feeling pain, That's what the white and black dog was doing she began feeling pain by the rats by biting her on mouth or lower lips of her mouth so she couldn't hold onto the rat no more her mouth is massive amount of pain and blood

Justin L. Shults I wouldn’t worry too much! Ratting is very good enrichment for the dogs, and the dogs are well taken care of by Joseph. Sometimes the dogs may get a small bite, but that is to be expected with any kind of hunting :)

While you folks throw Neela and Boss in to a mutual contest I wonder what happened to Sharni. Joseph, you meant her to be a tip-top multi-purpose dog. Some aspects are looking fine. But how is developing her rat-hunting ability?
@JosephCartertheMinkMan5 жыл бұрын
Sherni is still too young for ratting. I let her catch a couple here and there, but she's mentally too immature to come on one of these big ratting days where we are catching them one after another for hours on end.

It's not particularly nice to see rats die but I totally understand the need to have them taken care of. This is much more natural and safer than rat poisons, it is pretty much the death they would face to predators, just an unrelenting group of them is all. The best thing about it is the dogs get the natural fulfillment their breeds and genes give them. Their instincts are made to do this and they obviously love their work, most dogs love to work in some manner to keep them entertained and sharp.
@Jedda735 жыл бұрын
I had rats get into a storage shed and destroy thousands of dollars worth of furniture and personal items. They chewed on wood and metal items, and what they didn't destroy with their teeth was wrecked with urine. Basically everything in there went to the tip, so it is nice seeing these little mongrels get eradicated.
