Just found this channel. In Toronto, so not far from and a former tube/horn nut calmed down a bit. I followed "Beyond the Ariel" from the beginning.... I actually built one of his amps.... I've been to E.G.'s place and participated in some math with him. I had a part in the design of the SEOS waveguide and listened to many of them in completed projects. I've made crossovers for horn speakers, built classic speakers and tinkered a fair bit Would really love to chat, hang out and pick brains. I have one project coming out of storage I could have a sounding board for.

Amazing review I immediately ordered the B&C DCM50 to replace my Eminence N314X textreme setup. Dude your a legend thanks for the suggestion the dynamics and intelligibility are a night and day difference, large format really is the way to go! I am loving it. Now I just need some ES290 horns. (My dream) Have you ever considered offering a MDF/plywood version for us mere mortals? Maybe it’s not worth the CNC time. Either way I am saving up! Thanks again!

I was hoping to see your awesome speakers at the recent Toronto Audio Festival but alas.

I have a listening space setup for auditions in Prince Edward County. I'll be featuring more about this space soon. It's a large acoustically treated room for my flagship systems. Right now it is setup with the 1798 bass cabinets, ES450 Biradial with the T900A super tweeter, all passive.

Excellent presentation and results as always. I have questions that come to me every time I see you release a new horn. What makes a horn biradial and why is it prefered to other type of a waveguide?

Hi, your videos are very interesting, it seems your knowledge of horns is impressive. Looking at different videos on the subject, it seems the guys from OMA are saying basicly the opposit of what you are proposing. They seem to favor the straight horn solution, whereas you the exponantial. If i understand correctly. I would love to hear your point of view on these two different approaches, and maybe give us some insights. Also it could make a great vidéo to explain the difference in horn shape and their resulting sound caracteristics. I hope you'll have the time to make things clearer for me. Thx again for sharing your passion, it's very inspirational. Cheers.

Hi there, do you prefer those supertweeters to a really small horn for high frequencies?
@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding Жыл бұрын
That's what I'm hoping to find out. I just recently got the T900A dialed in which takes work. Then with the 2258 horn lens I'm hoping I can come up with a reference setup. My reference would be the RCF ND350 with the ES800 biradial, its powerfully dynamic compared to the T96A, and other ribbon, or AMT solutions I've tried.

Off topic question: can I use a 3 axis CNC to shape the two half of one of your horns (such the es600 1978) or need I a 5 axis? Thanks you so much P.s. very interesting video as usual

will you publish the shallow horn for 3 inch widebands? interested in a 3d printed version, split 4 ways for the average ender 3 bed size

I can send those manually (Horn No.1928), please email me at joseph_crowe@josephcrowe.com. There is a complete plan set that I developed including a passive crossover that I have availably as well. It works with two different bass cabinets...The Markaudio CHR120 and the Fostex FW208HS. The Fostex would be for larger rooms and the Markaudio for smaller rooms. No change to the crossover between the two. The only thing I have left to do before publishing the complete plan set is to develop a support stand for the horn. I wanted to create a floorstanding support for the horn which straddles the bass cabinet but is not physically attached. This keeps the bass cabinet vibration away from the horn.

Very curious to hear if you have experimented with the iwata horn profile?

Sorry but no.

Hello! I've been watching your videos and reading your blog for a while now and wonderd if you had any opinions on conical horns. Oswald Mills Audio uses them and they claim that they are the best type of horn. Do you have any experience with that types of horn and their positives and negative sides?

Just goes to show flattest freq resp isn't always "BEST". I wonder how the newer updated DCM420 would do in same setup. 🤔
