How did you find- get people to listen to your first speakers? I finished my first design, but have no listeners. lol Keep up the great work!
@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding7 күн бұрын
The first customers largely relied on my published test data which showed excellent linearity. My blog had already garnered decent traffic for about ten years prior to starting the business as well. This was always done with an eye towards starting the business to hit the ground running.

@@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding Good thinkin! I appreciate the knowledge! Thank you! I dont wanna go full bore business, more like part time hobby, and hopefully people like the sound and want to buy a few pairs a year. First design is a line source using elliptical coaxial drivers in 1 1/4 inch thick solid cherry cabinets.

Very nice looking workshop, congrats. Looking at the dimensions (and weight) of that biiiig 150Hz horn I wonder if it doesn't make sense to start doing fiberglass composite work. Otherwise beautiful wood products that you make. Thumbs up!

A big congratulations on the new setup and progress to date! Why do Canadians call electric hyrdo?
@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding7 күн бұрын
Thank you! Yes, we call it hydro because historically nearly all of our power generation was via hydro electric dam from the Niagara Falls region.

I was very distracted by the large horn on the back of the assembly table. Is that how large the es250 is ? Have you ever considered moving the dust collector to outside the shop ?
@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding7 күн бұрын
That's a custom horn and it loads down to 150Hz in its current configuration...using a 10 inch midrange. It's clean up to 5kHz with the phase plug in front of it. The dust collection is something I'm still testing and working through. Any advise is appreciated. Its difficult because we get serious snow and wind with very cold temperatures.

@@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding Can't help, its still one of the items I still need to figure out for my dream shop. Now that the shop is done I hope you will work on the speaker design tutorials you mentioned last year.

Can I ask what the sensitivity measurement is on these babies? I didn't see that on the product page.
@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding7 күн бұрын
Development is still ongoing but in its current form its flat from 150Hz to 5kHz, however I will crossing much lower than that at around 600Hz to the ES-450 above it. I can send you preliminary test data if you email me. [email protected]

The second produced more room, the first one a more flat earth atmosphere. The first one seems to sound a bit more realistic Both versions sound fantastic. What’s the better? Difficult to say. It depends probably strongly on the recording. And of course it’s just a YT video. And hang on, if you have the possibility to switch between active and passive to adjust the sound to your personal likings, that‘s a great opportunity. Would be interesting to hear it with more complex music
