An eye opener seeing a big warmblood ridden without contact!!

Apart from focusing on the rider’s position this was a great visual for impulsion and self carriage. I know a lot of dressage horses who would fall apart without a micromanaged contact. This proves if they’re self going without your hand they will push into the hand and move over the back better when you do pick up contact.

Lovely video, could you make one on how to correctly collect the canter? I’m really struggling with that right now

Very informative. I'm in the process of restarting an ottb, from ground up. Working on the self carriage, looser rein " method" whilst allowing him to tell me when to shorten the contact to achieve a slightly rounder frame. Your explanation for the riders balance during this process is so very helpful and I will definitely now be more mindful of my position. Thankyou so much 😊

I have been watching you and particularly your keg and heels. I have a bit of an issue with my instructor. She wants me to kick each stride. I don't believe in that. I like to flex my calf if that dosent work a kick and finally a tap with my schooling whip. I think constant kicking causes dullness and dead to the leg. I watch you and you only use your heels when needed. Would you agree ?

I would like to say, that altough it feels that your upper body goes back and front, it really gous so, that your hips moves like the horse is moving. So you can think to keep your upper body still and move your hips.

What I don't understand is why the horse isn't just trained to carry himself and then we ride, focusing on our skeleton so that we can keep the unity that way... I think if a horse cannot carry itself, we need to start on the ground again. Thank you for your content. I just found you and will be following!

Really enjoyed this video. Thank you. I find it very difficult while I'm riding to know whether or not my ear, my shoulder, my hip, and heel are aligned. Btw.... are you related to Amelia Newcomb??

I can sit the canter with my seat barely lifting off the saddle. It's like we glued together. But I was told this isn't good.
