Excellent video start to finish. I have tried to catch this way but seem to panic and try to early to move to a hive super. Patience pays.

Why didn't you shake bees into the hive,instead of the ground??
@josephrawls2 жыл бұрын
The bottom of the swarm box is usually full of debris and hive Beetles.
@frankieroman53142 жыл бұрын
I actually did notice the shape of a face pretty rad I must admit! I still admire people who handle bee's like they're little pets! I personally don't want to be no where near a hive it's scary thought of getting attacked by a swarm

Find a friend or someone you know that keeps bees and give it a try. You never know, you may enjoy it.

I am use to the french cleat using the 45 degree angle, did you try that before you went with the one you are using now? Reason I am asking is I like the way you are using the cleat versus everyone else is using a platform etc. Your's is a much easier way to mount it to the tree.
@josephrawls3 жыл бұрын
These are cut on the 45 degree. I like this much better than using the old board hanger on a nail. Thanks.

You did a good job with that fast forward of the bees walking up the board!! I tried it on the swarm I caught the other day and switched off my camera. Oh well, maybe next time.

What do you mean by ‘drawing out’ ?
@josephrawls4 жыл бұрын
Drawing or drawn out is a beekeeping term meaning they are building comb.
@jamesrivis6204 жыл бұрын
I would never have guessed,lol.
@jamesrivis6204 жыл бұрын
Found this description... ‘Drawn combs = Full depth comb ready for brood or nectar with the cell walls drawn out by the bees, completing the comb as opposed to foundation that has not been worked by the bees and has no cell walls yet.’. This suggests to me that the bees begin at the bottom or back of the cell and ‘pull’ the sides outwards. Must be a very old term as it is hard for me to figure out why that term came about. FYI here is the link to an alphabetical list. www.bushfarms.com/beesterms.htm
