We often talk about brushing and flossing but we forget about diet. For oral health you need vitamins and minerals: vitamin D, C, A,E and K, you also need Omega-3 , calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. You can get vitamin D and Omega-3 from fermented cod liver oil capsules , calcium from Kale. Kale and wheatgrass powder are actually rich in vitamins and minerals. Start with your diet.

Hi doctor , I just wanted to share a cultural anecdote : in India, traditionally, people do not floss and are wary of dentists under the mistaken notion that they “ pull out your teeth” so dental hygiene is not like in the west but surprisingly people are cery aware of the importance of keeping your tongue clean and all kinds of contraptions exist on the market to keep the tongue clean to ward off bacteria Also in India, you find all kinds of natural toothpastes ( with cloves, fennel seeds, cinnamon grounded bark) that you don’t get in the US

I am convinced of the terrain model - meaning that your general health is extremely important in periodontal disease . For example if you are a type two diabetic you will be much more prone to periodontal disease with the same cleaning regime as a person without diabetes. These two advocate for cleaning / symptom treatment . Your diet is important . Your sleep is important . “ If you don’t have a healthy mouth you cannot have a healthy body “ it’s the other way around ,buddy . You should perhaps clean your teeth but taking care of your overall health and keeping fit is of more relevance to this problem .

I have had a tooth with the mercury filling for over 40 years. A lot of small town Dentist don't tell you how important it is to take good care of your teeth. They just clean and fill, because the ultimate goal is to keep a patient coming back over-and over again. Well,all that said, I've been extremely weary of Dentist when I received my second mercury filling. 4 years ago I was told the second mercury filled tooth needed to be pulled, so bacteria and infection would not set-in. The reason I intended on going was to replace the mercury and save my tooth. I decided not to pull it. I've been taking natural measures like coconut oil pulling- to remove toxins, flossing, baking soda, sea salt, and Peroxide to vet rid of bacteria. My tooth is very strong, now. Recently, I noticed my first mercury filled tooth is misfiring some of the filling, because I've been having to rely on that tooth for grinding, to give my other to a break. Now, I am feeling some little bumps on my gum, and have been having the most awful, aching pain. I've been trying to relieve it with pain reliever, numbing medicine, oil pulling, and about everything I can think of. I'm going to a Biological Dentist the first week in April, but until then, do you have any suggestions on getting rid of gum pain?😮
@annmolina9300 Жыл бұрын
Oil pulling can loosen your mercury fillings. Get them replaced before filling breaks off. Mine came off suddenly. There was a large gap left. Make sure bacteria is not growing underneath old filling.

use tumeric powder (ayurvedic)( indian name as HALDI) as mouth wash !normal saline water /WATER :rinse your mouth after every meal, so food debris goes out ! a pinch of tumeric / 3rd or 4th day will be good enough ! indian neem leaf is anti bacterial and natural ! you donot use any harsh tooth paste ! small amount of baking soda gargling is also recommended ! AVOID SWEET DRINKS AND SUGAR **** BY ALL MEANS , AVOID TOBACCO OR TOBACCO PRODUCTS IN MOUTH OR NOSE ! NICOTINE IS A VASOCONSTRICTOR . OXYGENATION IS LIFE AND DEOXYGENATION IS DEATH ! Dr Nemeth, I appreciate watching your videos. The Dentist wants to coat the areas of tooth erosion where the gums have receded with a layer coating of bonding material. I wore braces as a teen. He said this is in my best interest. But those teeth are not bothering me. (and he could not guaranty the bonding color would match.) My concern is to avoid losing tooth #25. Because I have the sensation that it's extruding out. And when I press it with my finger nail, I see slight movement. I see erosion but not abfraction, not a break in the tooth. The most tartar is behind the lower front teeth. After I used the Philips Water Sonic Water Flosser at the lowest setting with the purple tip, made it feel like the bacteria was pushed into the pocket and it felt worse. And that made me stop using the Water Flosser. Is LANAP or pinhole treatment necessary? The gum in front of #25 tooth is thin. I begin using Closys Mouth Rinse, and wait 20 min. I floss, and brush. After brushing I use Original Listerine mouthwash and I follow up with 100% alcohol free ACT mouthwash. And then I use Biotene an hour afterwards to make the lower teeth feel better. (tooth #14 has significant gum recession.) The Dentist suggested to make a customized molded mouth guard. Should I put on a mouth guard at bedtime? I see the Dentist on Tuesday for a checkup and cleaning, how should I approach this? Thank you. P.S. The socks are cool.

Great Video.. QUESTION, I have a problem with teeth 23,24,25,26 - rather than permanent implants, are removable bridges a good option. I've heard that once these teeth have been removed BONE LOSS WILL CONTINUE because the body will remove bone that is not attached to teeth. Can you give any insight on this. THANKS Much.
@josephrnemeth3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for reaching out. So the best option in my opinion is dental implants because... you're right, having the teeth removed will cause the bone to deteriorate overtime. However, a dental implant is placed into the existing bone, and more bone can be built up in order to place the implant properly! Once it's there, the implant will stimulate the bone and cause it to stay in place for a lifetime! They may be a bit more expensive but trust me it's worth it! A bridge is not a bad option, but it may endanger the neighboring teeth overtime because of the bone loss. I hope this was helpful.

I also started flossing EVERY DAY- in my case I flossed by putting tea tree oil on my floss bcuz I had swollen gums and deep pockets in certain quadrants. I also rinsed with listerine every night. Fast forward to my appointment day; my hygienist said " who told you you needed an under the gum line cleaning"? You do not need a root scalling. I told her the last hygienist that did my cleaning. Check the records. Told her I did some things to help myself in-between visits. She said " whatever you did, keep on doing it" I told her I will because dentistry is wayyyyyy too expensive. She eventually asked me what I did, and I told her. I am now more intentional in my oral care and hygiene. I should've been doing this from years b4 but didn't. Add one or two drop to half glass of water, an rinse, add a drop to your toothpaste an brush your teeth, I wouldn't advise anyone else to do this, but this is what I do 2 or 3 times a week, I apply tea tree oil with a q tip directly on my gums for one minute, then I rinse my mouth out with warm water, keep in mind, tea tree oil is very strong, an usually it is used with a carrier oil, but it works wonder, I've been using it for years, there is always 2 or 3 bottles in my medicine cabinet

I am a 48 year old smoker and drinker. I brush my teeth once a year. No one says my breath stinks, and my teeth are pearly white without cavities. I don't floss either. No gun disease or any other issues that I know of. I haven't seen a dentist in 14 years. I must add however, I used to have frequent teeth issues: cavities, infections, etc before I stopped brushing/flossing. The most surprising thing is I had cavities before I went brushfree. All the holes in my molars filled in and all sensitivity to sugars in those cavities disappeared. Just my theory, but I believe tartar buildup, you know the stuff most of you brush off actually rebuilds teeth enamel. God or Mother Nature designed our teeth this way. Thus it is imperative that dentists keep you brushing away every day so they have lots of clients. Just a thought, err,...uh, conspiracy theory. Does anyone care to explain this or had a similar experience?
