Gum Recession can be ugly and can also be a sign of gum disease.
Building gum back is often very difficult, and many family dentists would not have the experience to be able to do something like this.
Visit my website/ Instagram linktr.ee/dr.sehmi
There are several ways to build gum back, and most are variations on a similar theme- the gum graft (or we call it a connective tissue graft - because it sounds more clever!)
In this video I'll show you when this treatment works really well and in those situations where it is not that great.

Pulling oil saved my teeth. I was flossing, brushing and waterpiking my teeth, but I still had gum recession. When my dentist said that I needed a gum graft, I started looking for another solution. I put a spoonful of coconut oil in my mouth for about 10-15 minutes every morning, before brushing and just move it around my mouth. Make sure you spit it out in the garbage, don't spit it in the sink or toilet or it will cause plumbing problems. Oil pulling has stopped my gum recession, it made breath fresher and made my teeth will feel more firmly in place. I told 3 of my friends who had similar problems and two of them have stopped their gum recession as well. While my gums did not regenerate, they have not receded any further. Try it for a week, it may help you as well. EDITED to answer questions that are repeatedly asked. I don't recommend one brand of oil over another, I use any type of organic coconut oil. If you don't like/can't use coconut oil, try sesame oil, sunflower oil or olive oil. If oil in your mouth makes you gag, start by using less oil, for a shorter amount of time and build your way up.

I used oil pulling with either sesame oil or coconut oil, infrared light therapy and myrrh essential oil and my gum above my eye tooth has grown back. I oil pull in the morning for 20 minutes. On occasion when I use coconut oil I will put in the myrrh oil in with it. At night I will put the myrrh oil right on the gum and I will rub it in and around the gum. Then I will also use my infrared light therapy for 12 minutes. I’ve been doing this for 7 months, and I am not doing it consistently everyday. I only have a tiny little hole left in the gum. The gum has grown back. My dentist was in shock.

Look at it as regaining responsibility for self...As a bodybuilder, it forces you to know nutrition. It's amazing how many people don't know nutrition. I'm not a doctor at it but I know enough to tell people that we have to know ourselves in order to make the right choices for ourselves...It was when a trainer had me eating salads and I was115 lbs and 5 feet tall...two days of that and I knew I needed to research what was best for me. Too often we rely on others. My excuse is dentist trauma from childhood...I put off my teeth. Now I am researching what I need to do as I am facing some dental issues. I want to know enough to ask the right questions...My teeth aren't that bad, but it's all relative right. LOL happy smilez!

@@dafyddthomas7299 Hi Dafydd! Thanks for your very observant input! In the USA I can't imagine what it would cost, or anywhere in the world for that matter. It would save people and they'd keep their original teeth and not need to have them all get crowns and/or root canals, or pulled and end up with dentures or no teeth. I am grateful for any health care, but our system is in decline too. It's very rare those with government health care get root canals, only in the front teeth where any other non-visible teeth the only option for the 98% is to pay a big price or have them pulled. I was very lucky and my dentist very surprised that I was covered for a crown, very rare, and it was a molar or non-visible tooth.

Most of the more severe illnesses happen to people by an upsetting event happening in their lives that takes them by surprise, unexpectedly, impacting first in the brain, then in the corresponding organ which that part of the brain controls. The end of WWI had absolutely everything to do with the Flu and lung TB outbreak that occurred killing millions. In nature, the biological conflict linked with a territorial fear (just what it means-a fear in your territory, your home, your community, etc.) is a widening of the bronchia (tissue loss). Your body attempts to widen your bronchia in order to allow more air into your lungs to give you more strength and energy to fight to keep your territory safe. Stay with me.......The biological conflict linked with a death fright impacts the lungs. The lungs attempt to grow larger in order to allow more air in because breath equals life, as we all know. No breath equals death. Why are so many people across the world suddenly having their appendix removed? The appendix is associated with “being in fear for one’s life”. The HEALING phase is the rupture/inflammation. While you are in the fear or death fright conflict, you notice no symptoms of “disease”, except you have cold hands, cold feet, you can’t sleep, you awaken at 3 AM every night, you have little appetite. During the war, millions of people were in fear of the bombing of their homes and cities where the war was most active. Fearing for their lives, their loved ones in the war, their ability to survive. The food in the stores was sparse due to shortages. This lasted for 4 long years! The longer the conflict, the worse the healing phase. Within 2 weeks of the German Chancellor announcing the end of WWI, these millions of people ALL went into the healing phase all at the same time. It is during the healing phase that you experience symptoms of illness! What is the healing phase of the bronchia widening? Severe bronchitis, pneumonia. The body attempts to refill this lost tissue and you experience inflammation, fever, coughing, body aches, fatigue, etc. What is the healing phase of the extra lung tissue that grew? Decomposing of the tissue by TB bacteria and fungi. The symptoms of this healing phase are: severe coughing up of blood and tissue, fever, inflammation, severe mucous, body aches, fatigue. During this decomposing of the extra tissue (tumor), the body expels a lot of protein, and without replenishment, severe protein loss can result in death. Antibiotics did not exist yet. If TB bacteria does not exist in a person or they have been vaccinated against TB (big mistake), then the tumor will simply encapsulate and become dormant and not harm you. Who died during the Spanish Flu? Mainly the poor who could not afford to buy meat and proper nourishment, and the people who were directly impacted by the bombings and destruction of their homes. Millions of people suffered fear and death frights during the fighting of WWI, and millions of people all went into healing at the end of it. Not everyone was affected because not everyone suffered the same way. It’s not a “flu”, it’s not something you “catch”. It’s biological, meaningful, and unavoidable. One hundred years later, a Fear Campaign begins, using the media to spread it......

So true, I had gum disease and changed my diet, took supplements and visited the dentist who extracted 2 decayed teeth. I did oil pulling (moringa oil) and flossed everyday. Rinsed with a Mouthwash and brushed lightly for two minutes each morning and each night. I did this consistently which prevented plaque build up and irritation. I had the black triangles between each tooth on the top set, however, 6 months on my gums are fully recovered and the gaps are no longer. It takes time, effort and a lot of TLC, but the results are amazing. I am not OCD with my teeth, but I am definitely more aware of my dental duties and have managed to save any more teeth from being affected. I had one filling, and an enamel erosion fixed with some gel like substance so there would be no further damage to the tooth. All in all I think I got very lucky.

Do you get your vitamin D3 levels checked once a year? Many of us older people have vitamin D3 deficiency which can cause bone loss in your face and gum area. It is very important to keep your D3 levels high as D3 is needed for many functions in your body. It must be taken with K2..not calcium.

You are very gentle in your explanation. Just the way you amply explain it is a while kindness. I had heard of skin graft. I’m not sure what cause the recession. All I recall was after having some stubborn plaque removed, the sensitivity to one back too started. The lady who explain about the graft was not even as kind as you. She came in to save her colleague who performed the plaque removal. The technician took face pictures of me, the dentist lady came Delivered the graft option briefly Put some varnished on my teeth, which I later bought on my own, bombarde me with some bills and that was it! I never returned to that place.

Brush three times, floss with water after each meal or even after drinking coffee and tea. Stop overeating sugar, or if you are a sugar addict, then floss and gargle with water right after the consumption. The primary cause of tooth decay is that we are ignorant about it. Using a good and soft brush with the correct brushing technique and regular three times brushing will treat most cases. The more important thing is to stop munching in between meals. Our teeth are the most ignorant part of our body. I have had no cavities for the last 26 years and go to my dentist every year. Just take your responsibility and protect your money, time, and energy. Dental Industry is not different than any insurance, food, or medical industry.

Good your technique works for you. There's also a genetic component. Although this video is about gum health, not cavities, sometimes, in spite of the greatest oral hygiene some people are prone to cavities. In families you'll see some folks who hardly see dentists and do basic oral care hardly get cavities while others take every preventative measure and get them. Many folks have great teeth and periodontal disease from gum neglect or harsh care.

Nope, it's all genetics 99%. Your teeth are exactly as of your parent in 99% of cases. And your eyesight. And hair density. Everything. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis and I also had to visit a dentist 3 monthly as I experienced rapid calculus buildup. Just as we were locked down I read I should be taking vitamin K2 with my vitamin D3. That was 14 months or more ago and I haven't visited a dentist yet. However my calculus has not only gone but my gums have healed and look if they have begun to grow back. Anecdotal I know, but K2 apparently scavenges calcium from places it shouldn't be. Not a quick fix but I'm so happy. Worth some research.

Thanks for the excellent video Dr Sehmi! I've had three gum grafts - two grafts on my lower front teeth and one graft to try to fix deep recession around a back molar. Although I have thicker gums in the lower front teeth, I still have dark triangles and it didn't fix the deep recession around my back molar. My dentist suggests that I have the tooth extracted and get an implant. These gum graft surgeries were costly and painful. Plus, I still have to brush my teeth, floss and use a perio-aid after I eat anything because the food gets caught in the triangles which is really frustrating. Your gum grafts actually worked and the photos look beautiful! My periodontist never takes before and after photos. Can you recommend a good periodontist and implant specialist in California? I live in San Francisco and could see anyone in the Bay Area. Also, would you recommend laser treatments or composites for my dark triangles? I wish that I could see you, but I think you are based in the UK. Thank you!!

Yes, my dentist said I would lose my tooth if I didn't get gum graft surgery. I didn't get the surgery and my gums are almost completely back to normal there. Here is what I did: 1. I got a good electric toothbrush and made sure when brushing I wasn't adding extra pressure or motion on the teeth but did move the tootbrush over the receded area to keep it clean. 2. I got rid off all conventional toothpastes and bought Nelsons Naturals toothpaste which also helped me rebuild some of my enamel . I got the one with fennel as I find it works the best. It's filled with minerals and I think it was a huge cause of my gums healing. I avoided sugar as much as possible unless it was from fruit and drank primarily only water.

I noticed at the beginning my gums were weak and made sore by the brushing, but after 3 days already were healthier. I'm hoping the stimulation, and maintenance of gum health will encourage them to grow back. I'm right handed so will also try to brush less hard on my left side. I had really beautiful gums and it was so packed like a hair can’t pass through my teeth. At age 35 I went to a dentist as there was a cavity in the molar and dentist fixed it. And gave me the offer of free dental cleanings. She started calling for free cleaning more frequently and she digged all my teeth and made receding gums and tried to make me understand that she needs to make space in between the teeth’s so that she can better clean it. The dentist was a Chinese with a Pakistani assistant. She instructed the assistant only talk in English seems she didn’t trusted her. I went through terrible itchy painful gums at the last day she applied something in my gums that I couldn’t tolerate as she wanted me to hold for long. Many times in cleaning I felt there is heavy bleeding that they are trying to hide. All the time they kept me distracted by talking about my kids and family and very entertaining as the part of strategy. It took me really long to get functional teeth. I was not able to brush . We were in India and had perfect teeth never needed to go to a dentist. Grew up doing neem sticks in childhood. She got a chance by mistake and she destroyed my 6 years old daughter’s picture perfect teeth. They don’t even feel bad that this kid have to live there whole life with a de shaped teeth at front and she twisted it so the front two teeth are overlapping on others . And before she has really beautiful teeth like anyone can imagine. Now when we click she doesn’t smiles she just spreads a smile . Looking at the teeth’s I can see how much different it makes. The dentist carved out so much of my teeth now when I eat the food hides vertically in between every teeth of a grain size. I have to be careful what I am eating. Good that here people have posted some remedies. I just don’t want to end up on root canals whole life if I can manage. So be really careful about your dentist. Seems more because of a western culture here we were like a dentist is must. In my experience either you care for teeth’s in advance or later story will be same.

I don’t add pepper on the daily) (I also throw in Sprouts and wheatgrass juice powder ) How: -I use 1/4 lemon w/ peel -I keep my ginger chunked in 1-2” pieces in freezer in baggie to grab out ... no need to peel. -I use a good handful of all greens I -I Use 1 -3 stalks of celery -I use a 2-3” piece of cucumber I take turmeric supplement so I leave out (tsp prob good amount) Throw it all in a good blender (Vita mix really good investment)w/ 2-4C of water if (and some ice if you like) This rids body of excess mucus which breeds infection and inflammation. It boosts immunity and antioxidants and aids body in healing itself.
