I am in there at least every other week. I have found so much there. A few times I have literally spent all day there. I found an unopened original pressing of the soundtrack to The Empire Strikes Back for 50.00. I have even seen the Beatles Butcher album there. I have seen that place grow so much and love going there. I am so glad you got a chance to go there

Subdivisions by Rush is my nominee for the cool song of the day, Drummer Neil Peart passed away recently, he was the primary songwriter of the band. Rush wasn’t just one of Canada’s biggest rock bands in the 1970’s and 80’s but was one of the influential progressive rock at that time and was a major inspiration for prog rock band that came later

I had the funniest experience today. So I was traversing around my local multimedia store (they were having 25% on records, so yay, picked up Nordland by Bathory and Liebe ist für alle da by Rammstein), and while browsing the records, a group of friends are coming over, excited as hell over seeing the record shelves. They also went bananas in the CD section, browsing and finding a lot of their favourite albums. Even one of them were like: "There's music on both sides? I only thought there was one song on that." It was so pure. And it reminded me of my first record store experience. I also got in talk with one of them, recommending them turntables and what to stay away from. It was such a nice event, seeing them light up by the physical formats.

Hey, Jarrett I just wanted to say thank you for all the videos you make and all the information you provide us with. I had been wanting to get into vinyl and sadly I got a Crosley 😬, but then I started watching your videos and I quickly learned a lot about vinyl and got way more interested in the hobby. And I’m happy to say that I’m officially a vinyl geek, and I sold my Crosley to get a real turntable that is high quality. And my dad gave me a amp and some speakers so now I have a really great setup. Sorry if this was long but I just wanted to say thank you for encouraging me to get into vinyl. And also I’ll be visiting “Friends of Sound” in a couple days so I’m really excited about that. And I know you already know this but...keep spinning that vinyl 😎

This is equivalent to Amoeba Records in Hollywood or SFO. I hope record stores eventually start returning again. I was here at Josey for the first time back in October, the day before the 12 tornadoes ravaged the D/FW area. Luckily, the twister that tore through North Dallas & Preston Hollow missed this store. One of the few times I didn't spend three-hundred dollars on a shopping spree looking for rarities or replacements because I was with two friends who come here all the time. I got a bunch of great CDs I needed in the $1 sidewalk boxes outside the store as well as a few goodies inside. Got out of there for $38, which is unheard of for me.

Josey Records is awesome. It's certainly the buzz lately, especially after they acquired Bill's (RIP. FTG, but RIP.) collection. However, a similarly massive store is Forever Young records in the south Midcities. It also has that vibe from actually dating back to the late twentieth century golden age.

Here in Split, Croatia you don't have a huge selection of shops for vinyl. In fact there is pawn shop that sells used vinyl (it has no listening station), Croatia Records wich sells new vinyl (and gear every now and then). And on summer, when tourists flood the city, people come to the center of Split and sell used vinyl on stands. Thats all I know there may be more but you never know.

Should have gone to Bills records while you were in town. He ran a record store here in Dallas since the late 70's and was a local treasure for dfw music. Sadly, we lost bill recently, while he was at his post behind the counter of shop. Nice to see you hit up josey though. Those guys do the lord's work at shop with their wears.

What an amazing looking store! I wish we had some like that here in the UK.... We do have the HMV chain of shops for new records/CD's/movies, etc, and where I am (East Anglia) there is a smaller local group of stores called Vinyl Hunter, and they are great, but the shops are very small so they can't carry the same ranges... but for used, and new records/CDs, they're very good. They also sell hardware, and host a number of live bands/DJs throughout the year too.. Otherwise, all you've got is local charity shops with the usual Rita Coolidge, Val Doonican, Harry Secombe, Jim Reeves, Abba, etc second-hand stuff that nobody wanted.....!! ;-)

There’s a small, hole in the wall type record store in Nevada called Vegas Vinyl. It’s a PHENOMENAL smaller record store. Picked up some Billy Joel, AC/DC, Beatles, Aerosmith, Elton John, Bob Seger, Led Zeppelin, and Queen, and all of them were 5-7 dollars in great condition. The owner also cleans your records before you buy them for free, and always offers his customers drinks! If you’re ever in the area, I’d highly recommend checking it out.
