I had a long-term best friend who I would spend at least one or two days a week with. One time in particular, we went out of state for lunch; I bought us lunch, and she dropped quite a bit on the drinks. I am a fairly large guy, never been drunk, but before we left her house for lunch, she joked (I THINK it was a joke) that the drinks would hopefully make me compliant to her suggestions. She said, "That will be our excuse." If I had thought she was serious, I wouldn't have needed drinks for that. I'd been hoping she'd make a serious move on me for about ten years. I didn't get drunk, and she never made a move. God almighty, but I miss that woman. When we were around each other, everything just seemed right, like we belonged together. It never sorted out where we were available at the same time. She had even told me that if she'd have met me first, we would probably be married, and we'd make cute babies. This woman was physically flawless, seemed like a goddess to me, and yes, I was in love with her. That's why I never pursued anything other than friendship with her. I didn't want to cause an upheaval in our lives; I never wanted to do anything that might hurt her. It's been 17 years since I've seen her last- since I got remarried. If I saw her again, it would be a miracle if i didn't simply fall to the ground and weep. Yeah. I love my wife, but this woman was my fantasy since the day I met her. I'm still a mess, not having her in my life any more. All I can hope for is that she remembers me well.
