While I do agree with you that Steve Tasker is deserving of the NFL Hall of Fame, there are certain parameters for a player to be elected: A player must wait 5 years following retirement from the NFL (with paperwork on file) before being eligible for Election. There must be written or photo proof that the player was on an NFL roster for a minimum of one season. The only exception to the 5 year waiting period is Derrick Thomas who was killed in a car accident before he came up for consideration. The HOF had a special meeting to discuss the situation. The Selectors voted to waive the 5 year minimum waiting period for Derrick Thomas, and he was Enshrined in 2009. There is a limit to the # of times a player can be under consideration for election to the HOF. The limit is currently 15 times. Also, if a player has reached the limit and played prior to 1990, their election is placed in the hands of what is called the Seniors Committee. This ensures that players from all eras of football have the chance for election. The Seniors Committee has up to 2 spaces in any given year, and the remaining 5 places are voted on by the Board of Selectors.

Couple things. This was a great interview. On both sides. But man Josh is easy to root for. He feels like the friends you grew up with. He roots for the right causes. His marketing team has done a great job slowly building his brand. His story is easy to root for and he’s such a perfect fit for the Bills. I want so badly to see him win a championship in Buffalo and finish his career there. We went to training camp last year (my 17 year old and I) and it’s been a bucket list thing. It was crazy to see how insane the fans are over him. There was a lady that was literally trying to throw her infant at him to sign. He handles all that with grace. He’s just a good dude and I wish him all the success in the world. For him and us as bills fans. He represents so well. And how cool is it with the farming that he’s already got an end game plan he’s putting together and he gets to do it with his family. Seems perfect.

When Josh was being drafted, that was the first time I have ever watched the draft. When I heard Buffalo select him I went crazy. Grew up a huge Niners fan. But the Bills were my favorite AFC team. Watching him play in Wyoming, we knew he was someone special. We were at that championship game in Laramie and it was like -20F. Brutal cold. I will never forget on of his passes that the crowd just went bonkers. Great way to get warmed up on a freezing night!

I moved to Buffalo in 1988 and lived there for 28 years. My friends here back in PA just don't understand why I miss Buffalo so much. Josh Allen summed the spirit of Buffalo beautifully. I believe it is the warmest cold city in the country. The community supports the Bills and their causes because the Bills have always supported the community. My love of winter weather aside, I really miss that community spirit.
