Met his dad while stationed at El Toro in the 90s, training pilots and aircrew in flight physiology and water survival. He was getting ready to start filming Wings of Gold Pensacola. He was a genuinely nice down to earth guy. He thought our jobs were way more interesting than being an actor. Spent the day teaching him and then he asked us about our jobs and careers Mother in law at the time was ecstatic because I got pictures and an autograph for her. She was a Marcus Welty fan

I love Josh in Nightwatch. If you want to see his capabilities as an actor, I highly recommend it. When i first seen it I wasnt sure if his character was A great friend with a twisted sense of humor or a fn psychopath and just his acting alone would've won that film some great awards had it came out 10 years before or after its time. All the teen scream flicks overshadowed a real great plot and great film.

Grew up in downtown Brooklyn in the 70s. They did some scenes block away for a BARBRA STREISAND movie her bus parked outside our place. Then amazingly same spot they came and did scenes in the corner subway station for JAMES BROLIN movie called SHORT WALK TO DAYLIGHT many years later they retitled it for TV to Trapped he played a policeman. Took photos and got his autograph. Story is earthquake occurs in NYC while Brolin and others trapped undergrown. Stallone decades later redid it.

the stock trading makes sense - he had a movie and the series he mentioned Mister Sterling in 2003, one movie in 2004, a pilot and an episode of Into the West and the movie Into the Blue in 2005, one movie in 2006, and then in 2007 its Grindhouse and No Country and Valley of Elah and Grindhouse. People talk about the 'McConaissance' but perhaps 2007 should be considered the Brolushion?
@masterofallgoons
@masterofallgoons 7 ай бұрын
No Country for Old Men happened off the back of Grindhouse though, right? Not exactly out of nowhere. Getting that gig must have felt like a pretty big deal at the time. And I'm sure having an audition tape directed by Tarantino with Robert Rodriguez as DP didn't hurt his chances at being cast.

Big fan of Mr. Brolin... As he points out, his passion comes from the art of film making as to his acknowledgments of "Raging Bull" etc... Who doesn't want to be rich & travel the world, or even modestly wealthy for that matter. Like any good monkey, boy or girl, there is no secret talent or trick to developing confidence to actually become an actor who can be humble & vulnerable simultaneously. IN fact, this is the journey of the human race. Now... On the other hand, to get paid to be oneself & have every & any privilege the world has to offer... Well... Who would turn that down. The courageous actor of old has faded away with the stardom of clicks & likes... Even kitty cats can get millions of clicks with a little trickery on KZbin. Imagine that... Many young actors today do not even know who Sydney Poitier is... As nepotism has taken over Hollywood, we have more mediocrity than ever seen since silent movies. As Mark Twain wrote... "We all live in the protection of certain cowardices which we call our principles."

The movie "Back to the Beach" was a very funny movie poking fun at all of the 50's and 60's beach blanket movies etc. My favorite scene........ Frankie Avalon is sitting at the bar, crying to the bartender, "Oh, Annette doesn't love me anymore...." Well, the bartender is Bob Denver, Gilligan from Gilligans Island and he had one of the funniest lines I've ever heard in a movie, EVER. He says " You think you have it bad? Well, I was stuck on a desert Island for 20 years with a professor who could take two halves of a coconut and a vine and build a nuclear reactor......... but he couldn't patch a two foot hole in a boat!" I almost dies laughing. I loved Gilligans Island but that one line put it all in perspective.
