Innocence Project lawyer Josh Dubin called Sheldon "a miracle" and complained that he was sent to prison for 25 years over "two stitches." In reality, Sheldon was an experienced drug dealer with a prior conviction, who pistol-whipped someone during an armed robbery - an attack that, contrary to the movies, can easily kill or seriously maim a person. Johnson said that his son "got into a fight with this Chinese guy" who tragically died. In reality, his son viciously attacked a random Columbia grad student, punched him in the face, and chased him into the street where a car killed him. Despite committing murder, his son served less than two years in juvie. A police officer testified he showed no remorse for the killing. Johnson's father, meanwhile, raped a 7-year-old three times, blaming the fact his wife wouldn't have sex with him due to his drug habit. A judge gave him just five years of probation. This is the family that Innocence Project trotted out as proof that the justice system is overly punitive and systemically racist.

I love how he’s changing the facts from the first podcast. “He got 70 years”, “He served 30 years”. He was sentenced to 50 (25 on one case and 25 on another served consecutive) and he was released after 25 years. He’s still trying to make this guy seem like a victim when he obviously is a predator. Every negative thing said about this guy is accurate. Race baiter even seems accurate considering his “client” was obviously not a victim of racism in this case or in his prior cases. As a member of the “arena” I know for a fact that criminals are manipulating bleeding hearts like him once they get in jail/prison so that they can get what they want. They have every single incentive to lie to get back out. It’s unfortunate that he fell for it.

Be cautious of the Innocence Project and people like Josh. He talked about a kid on JRE who "falsely" admitted to killing a girl in a drive by shooting in Minneapolis because he was pressed by the cops(hes still the main suspect 17 years later). His name is Tywin Bender and the cops were wrong by forcing a confession out of a teenager but he wasn't some innocent child who the cops snatched up because he was black. This kid was connected to multiple shootings, robberies, burglaries and assaults by the time he was a junior in highschool. I know this because I went to highschool with him and was at football practice when homicide detectives arrested him for the girl that got shot and personally know a few kids that got robbed by gunpoint by him. He's currently serving a 10 year sentence and deserves every minute of it and clowns like Josh Dubin think sociopaths like him deserve a second chance.
@redsilverado7610 күн бұрын
Great insight. It makes me wonder what motivates this Josh Dubin. Freeing a wrongly convicted prisoner with no prior rap sheet is one thing, but trying to free a career criminal felon is something else.
@Freedom_is_better_than_safety9 күн бұрын
Freeing unrepentant violent criminals is a hard no for me. And we have to look at individual cases before asking for prison reform. We say we should let out people on weed charges, but those same people most likely pled to a weed charge and did the time for the other charges they dropped so that when they get out they “only got locked up for a little weed”, therefore people are more accepting of them returning to society. There are VERY few people in jail for a personal sack of weed. It’s a tool that’s used to give people a second chance more than to keep people locked up. Sometimes they catch career criminals with weed but can’t get them on other crimes and they get them off the streets with a weed charge, but again it can be a tool. Criminal justice reform can’t be letting people out of prison that will reoffend, and a lot of work should be done to reform people while in prison. A handful of poorly run state programs and church ministries is all we have for that right now.
@0ptimal9 күн бұрын
Damn. It's like he doesn't look at anything but the singular case. Hmm. This reeks of attorney like behavior. How all that matters to the attorney is whether or not they can win, even if the defendant is guilty as fk. Like they just want notches on their belt, i hate that sht.

The guy that I'm talking about was mentioned on an episode of JRE a few years back. Had I commented on it then I would've been trashed in the the comments. @geometerfpv280410 күн бұрын
@@mbtravel7294It's not one person, you need to look into their cases. Don't just blindly believe what it says on the can. This is the one guy that ADMITS guilt that they dealt with. Obviously an enormous number of convicted felons claim they "didn't do it", that's why we use evidence, not their word. This group frequently gets people off on technicalities when they were very obviously guilty. They believe in the race narrative behind incarceration, and if you are a minority, they are going to assume you were treated unfairly even if DNA evidence clearly demonstrates you committed the crime (as has been the case with them multiple times).
