It's more because he had such a brief career that few actually got to see him and as time passes this legend type persona grows though in reality there's no way he could have won titles in the premier class without training more and cutting out the stuff the 12-18 year old's are impressed by as his legend among that age bracket grows as each new generation passes thru ....

He beat Dungy for the west coast title and is the main reason why Vill chose the east series instead of west where he is from... He did that riding for fun with a care free attitude. True story the week leading up to Jason Lawrence’s amazing Daytona Supercross performance where he lead until the final two laps only to be passed by Chad read at the end was a week no one would believe. At that time we were playing MX versus ATV alive I believe was the game and the two of us were putting in probably close to 18 hours a day on that video game. I smoked a ton of weed during that time. Jason smoked a ton of weed as well but he also was taking Xanax and some other stuff basically he was out of his mind on another level high as a kite. So we are playing this game on Xbox live and he says oh shit I got to go! And I’m like what are you talking about man where you going? And he says to me dude I got to get to Daytona for the Supercross! And I said shut the fuck up you’re actually racing this weekend? I mean I thought you weren’t gonna raise that’s why you were playing video games the whole week! And he says not man I’ve got to go my contract I got to be there. So I’m laughing my ass off thinking he’s going to be late and roll around the track in last place don’t think much of it The next day the Daytona Supercross race is on I am at home all set up to enjoy the race and the gate drops and there goes my buddy J Law and he did something so amazing it was more amazing than people understand I watch the entire world that loves the sport of Supercross watch in amazement as he lead and they didn’t have a clue that he had not ridden a bike in over a week and he had been sitting on his butt doing drugs I honestly felt like I must be so high this is not really happening and I’m trying to wake up out of some dream But it was no dream Jason Lawrence was locked in a zone that week in his mind he might not have been on an actual dirtbike but the two of us were pushing lap times on that video game that nobody had ever hit and mentally his brain was in a racing zone and I watched mind over matter I just wish he could’ve had those last two laps.... it would’ve been soooooo sic🤙

Can you imagine that if J-Law stayed out of trouble that in 2010 would’ve been one of the best seasons cause it would’ve been Dungey vs Lawrence reliving their Lites career rivalry all over again and with Hill being his teammate and best friend would’ve did anything for Lawrence including roughing Dungey up on the track. It definitely would’ve been Dungey vs Lawrence that year giving the fact that Stewart, Reed and Villopoto all being out. So sad and such a shame we never got that as fans smh
