I have nothing against Mark Ronson, he’s a fucking genius, full stop. But he has no place in QOTSA that is artistically beneficial to either parties (cept for the drugs, that whole recording process prolly resulted in more ego-deaths than altamont, let’s be real). But considering Josh just collabed with El-P....Now there is a left field Producer of the next potential QOTSA record I can get behind lol.

Agreed. I was expecting something similar at least in the recording but the whole vibe of this sing totally changed. Not a good thing...

Did you hear the single? It's a good enough song in general, very catchy, but I'm a bit worried about the handling of the drums and all that.

I'm not really familiar with Ronson's work so I had no preconceived notions about him, but I'm seeing a lot of "yep, that's Ronson's mixing" going around, and if that's what it is, I'm concerned for the rest of the album.
@alseid87097 жыл бұрын
I'm ok with a more dancey album. Won't blow me away, but that's fine. I mean, just as long as they don't Muse it...
@EK633157 жыл бұрын
If by "muse-ing it", you mean evolving their sound... then you clearly don't understand the point of music as an art. The thing that makes bands great is their ability to evolve their own sound - and this involves dabbling in different genres sometimes like Muse does. I think that's what makes Muse great. QotSA are great because they have a certain sound that has too evolved over the years. Saying a band shouldn't evolve their sound is similar to how the new Star Wars movie essentially mirrored the plot structure from the first film - people enjoyed it to some degree, but it wasn't interesting or fresh, and got much criticism for this. It's important to understand that while sometimes bands shift away from what made them successful originally, it doesn't make them worse then they were - it just means they aren't interested in rehashing the same sound over and over again... which is typically a good thing.
@alseid87097 жыл бұрын
Listen to the last few Muse albums. It goes beyond "musical evolution" well into a sort of schizophrenia. It's like listening to a various artists compilation: this song is Muse doing RHCP, this one is Muse doing U2, this one is Skrillex, this one is Queen, this one is Franz Ferdinand, this one is Anathema, this one is Foo Fighters. I'm not against musicians changing. It's just sometimes they completely lose the plot of what they were doing, and they change into shite. Like Muse did.

The chorus is haunting, so far this album is rated R material. But josh believes it takes two albums to make a great third one'. These songs seem to be popcorn at the intermission, mediocre. Chum the waters feed the sharks there we put out an album now stfu leave us alone. Tour on it make some dough This abum was a quick get in cum and pull out, move on. They should have named this album intermission. It's not bad not great. They went in the studio January came out in march. To me, its an album so far running on two flat tires. not bad not great
@joshwinn48267 жыл бұрын
Jay Philips Or maybe Josh has been saying for years he wanted to do a swing'ish album and he finally did it? "Running on two flat tires" makes no sense - why are the tires flat? Who left the band? What changed. Nothing, just Josh's perspective on life at this time.
