the places he chooses to emphasize and then avoids the easy way out tonally....drives them tears steady down my cheeks every time....let alone once you know the reason for the song..they flow even harder....

Josh and Queens are just in a category of their own. No one in rock comes close. The ability to strip it down to something fragile and then destroy everything in their path with heavy riffs is very much akin to Zeppelin. Best band in the world in this era

I can't believe I wasted so much time with my obsession with Tool when I could have started my obsession with qotsa and Josh earlier. It started when I saw them with nin in 2014 after clockwork came out. It was the most amazing show I'd ever seen. Until the villains tour last year. He better keep making music forever!

Check out the many Desert Sessions if you haven't yet. And Eagles of Death Metal, Them Crooked Vultures, and don't forget Kyuss!!! I started listening to QOTSA on a whim. I bought Lullabies to Paralyze in a record store and I was completely blown away. QOTSA is the best modern rock band of all time. Talent like nothing I've ever seen in our era. Josh is fanfuckingtastic and so are his friends.

Honestly though, no surprise- so many QOTSA songs are performed by them so well acoustically, which is a true testament to their melodies. This one of course is suited for an acoustic version but so many of their heavy songs that you would think need the distortion, studio layered effects etc, are great when they do them acoustically.......can never get enough of these guys.
@iannordin5250
@iannordin5250 6 жыл бұрын
Honestly, most songs can be performed well acoustically if they're written in the right key - stuff like heavy metal doesn't work because it uses weird tuning like drop c that simply don't work well on clean instruments. But having great acoustic versions is more of a sign of great performers than great song writing.
