12 years ago my soulmate, the love of my life was losing her war with cancer. The Dr. said she had 2 maybe 3 days top and I should go home and make arrangements..I walked out of the hospital into the dark don't even remember driving home everything was a blur. Sat down at my desk trying to figure out all that needed to be done. Just out of habit I clicked on the radio and here was Josh Ritter singing about a girl in the war. I found myself singing /screaming at the top of my lungs "if you can't find a way to help here you can go to hell" 8 days later she walked out of that hospital and is still kicking around. Oh her eyes are the palest blue everyone who has ever met her comments on how beautiful they are Yeah I love Josh Ritter

I saw him on 5-13 in Atlanta and had the chance to meet him and chat with him for about 10 mins. they come no better than Josh (and Josh hugs are the best hugs on earth)....Dawn Landes, his wife, was with him and she is also a fantastic artist in her own right.

If you get the chance to see him at a smaller show, he jumps off stage after the show and hugs everyone for coming. He put on a show in my hometown for his uncle who is running for State Senate in Pennsylvania. He's amazing live. He's so enthusiastic and has great stories to tell while on stage.

Absolutely incredible. Ritter is a bit of a revolutionary regarding his lyrics. They are very powerful, very multi-faceted...a bit reminiscent of Kris Roe, but even more raw and slightly less individualistic. Roe sings about individual introspection, heartbreak, and the essence of human emotion in his Welcome The Night album. Ritter is more widely spread in theme, shifting from human nature, love, and sociological revolution. Both are incredibly powerful.

I think it's about Peter, Paul, & Mary (Old Folk Group). Peter says to Paul to break the rules to save Mary, who is in some kind of distress (Locked inside the kingdom and the keys are locked inside). So he's the only one who can save her. Peter tells him to imagine the dove above him as a dragon (Puff the Magic Dragon reference?) and that his feet are on fire, implying he run as fast as he can to save her. The rest of the song is just talk about her love for her. That's my guess :).
