Absolutely love this song. From Eastern NC surrounded by corn fields, rural country area. My high school mascot was a Panther. My daughter and identical twin nieces also attended this high school. All were cheerleaders, one now lives in NY. This song reminds me of them. Nieces had long naturally curly hair. All were beautiful. Josh Turner is a great singer, country boy and Christian. Saw him in concert in Louisville KY back in 2005. He puts on a great show. His wife is really beautiful. I am sure this song represents many country girls from small towns all across the country. Many who went to schools with a Panther Mascot. Keep up the good work Josh...

She grew up around here on that southwest side Where the corn grows up to the road side Went to high school here, got that Panther pride She'll be cheering them on every Friday night She couldn't hide her beauty with a baseball cap Couldn't help but shine with a heart like that New York called when she turned 21 But she never forgot where she came from I need a pretty little homegrown hometown girl With a ribbon tying back those waterfall curls I've been looking all over, all over the world For a pretty little homegrown hometown girl Her mamma's mamma was born right here And her roots run deeper than that old town square She's a good girl but she's not uptight She can rise and shine and she can hang all night I need a pretty little homegrown hometown girl With a ribbon tying back those waterfall curls I've been looking all over, all over the world For a pretty little homegrown hometown girl She's got an old soul, she's the salt of the earth When she gives her love she knows what it's worth There's a lot of pretty girls out there to me But there's nothing like the one right across the street I need a pretty little homegrown hometown girl With a ribbon tying back those waterfall curls I've been looking all over, all over the world For a pretty little homegrown hometown girl I need a pretty little homegrown hometown girl

Great Song and Effort from Mr. Turner. He and Mr. Darius Rucker hail from Hannah and Charleston, South Carolina. We're extremely proud of these Home State Fellows. They both exhibit similar Music Styles. Our State isn't necessarily known for many Great Country Singers so to have Two "Great and Successful" Ones in this era is Quite an accomplishment. They're burning up the Country Charts right now and that's an incredible thing. The other day I heard Mr. Turner's song was at number 11 on the Country Charts and Mr. Rucker's new Song is an incredible cut that I expect, like this one, to go into the Top 10. Sometimes Music Life in "The South" is really Great! Congratulations Guys!

My interpretation of the song: This guy has been looking for the perfect girl--looking everywhere--and he is realizing that the perfect girl is the one he was in love with in high school/ college/ or from down the road, someone he grew up with. She's the real deal and she right there, you don't have to go all over the world for the perfect girl.

March 2018 here still listening! God, you have a sexy voice. I love your music. My first love from my childhood has come back into my life this year, God is good! He is a widower and I am a widow we loved our spouses and were faithful up until death. We both have been miserable for five or six year care taking our spouses. Now, I am so excited to have a second chance at love and happiness. We are in our sixties, and we must go on living. Life goes on. We had to "let go and let God" have our spouses. "until death do us part". You are never too old to need love. Thank God, for your music. I love this song! God bless you for your music. This is our song.
