To those new producers and mixing engineers watching: make sure you DO NOT have your reference monitors directly on the table like this, have them on risers or better yet standalone mount/stands. This will help get a more accurate representation of your mix. If you can, also do not place them right in front of a wall, try to give some space between the back of the woofer and any surface.

Nice set up. My "booth" is a little room adjacent to the "studio" full of clothes and soft stuff. It's nearly totally noiseless. One additional thing I do when I'm on my own and have to sing, is to use an Android tablet and connect to the main computer with Teamviewer. This gives me fullscreen view of the DAW in the studio hence I can control all the functions of the main computer from the "booth". Works perfectly.

Hey. Great build. I feel like the mic situation is less than ideal, a couple of ideas for it are: I have a Shure dynamic mic for scratch vocals because it's something I know I can have in my desk drawer without any problem. Or you could also clamp the condenser mic to the one of the shelves and that way save a lot of space! I really like the hooks for the headphones tho, I'm implementing it for my own home studio.

Nice setup man, love the interior's vibe, I do have some suggestions for you though, #1 - your monitors should optimally be at ear height, this is absolutely crucial, #2 - your monitors should be either side of your screen in the middle of the desk, forming a triangle when your head sits in the middle, this is again, crucial, the back of the monitors should be facing toward the corner and the tweeters on either side directed toward your ear, place them an equal distance apart as well! Judging by your room I don't think you're going to put up bass traps or panels or anything like that right now, And now for #3, the monitors need to be off the desk, Infact you want them to be "floating" by floating I mean decoupled from your desk, as having them on your desk will give you an artificial low end and smeared stereo image, so what you need to achieve all of what I mentioned above is either: Some Fluid Audio DS5 stands or IsoAccoustics IsoL8r stands, you'd be surprised what a difference doing these things I mentioned + either of these accoustic stands! Your monitors will sound like different speakers, in a good way, don't take my word for it, try it out for yourself.

@JoshandKatie4 жыл бұрын
If you're not singing then you can ignore the microphone. If you want to be a rock/jazz musician then that means you play guitar. All you need is your guitar with a line output which you can plug it into an audio interface. Then the audio interface will let you record your guitar on your computer into a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). The DAW will also help you to make drum beats using just your computer. Then you can either use headphones or plug in speakers like I did in this video. Hope that helps!
