Day in The Life at a Silicon Valley Startup

Follow me around on a day in the life working for Silicon Valley based startup (pre- covid 19)! We filmed and edited this a few weeks ago, but decided to share now to keep you entertained while staying home. I work in Business Development at a Mobile Gaming Unicorn HQ'd in Palo Alto-- managing monetization and advertising spend for thousands of the top iOS and Android apps. Guys, you have amazing content. However, I have to be honest. Such a day is my usual day still nowadays. I get up at 6 am, I am at work at 8 am or a bit earlier. I work for my client until 6 pm and when I am home I care about my family until my daughter is in bed and then I work on my own business project until 11 pm. During the day I have a lot of webbased meetings and a huge chunk of emails to answer. My client is pressing me all the time. So I am working as an entrepreneur to improve my work pattern so that I can stop freelancing and just work on my own tech product. I wish you all the best and stay safe and healthy y'all.

Silicon Valley is San Jose through the San Mateo area. This person is in San Francisco (not Silicon Valley). SF is where you pay 5k a month for a 2 bedroom apartment and get verbally harassed by crazy homeless people daily.

Nice video, Katie this is a question for you. My girlfriend she's aspiring for a BI position she's work in NYC and currently not working on the field, What should be the path she need to follow in order to get a job in that position?

Good question! Everyone has a different path for sure- so no one way to get there. For business roles, a lot of weight on EQ, strategy, and general people skills. People hire who they enjoy being around and will HUSTLE for the role. Technical experience Excel, Python, SQL, and API’s are great to be familiar with. And like our getting hired video said: APPLY APPLY APPLY and don’t settle for something you aren’t excited about 🙂

Yeah. It was kind of a rushed production because the set builders had to tear everything down for another movie set. Would have loved to put more detail into the street concrete textures and framing the walls a little better throughout the SF environment we fabricated.

how much is rent at silicon valley at the moment? is 200k enough to make ok living(around 1000 sqft apartment) and still save like $1000 a month or am I just pipe dreaming. of course, it has to be safe place to live so I don't get my amazon package stolen. :( I looked at it on google but rent price is ridiculous and it looks pretty much impossible to even thinking about buying house unless you get like 500k salary or more. of course, I do not intent do get a roommate and I do not want to live in RV. :(

Rent for 1000 sqft is probably $3000/month. With $200K per year salary you will definitely have a great living. You could save probably ~$100K post tax post expenses per year.

Don't workout in the gym, mate. Lifting weights will ruin your joints soon. Practice Calisthenics - Working out with the help of nothing but your body and Gravity. That's how Spartans sculpted their body(Except the fact that they practiced with heavy shields and swords). Calisthenics will make you faster, stronger, and functional. Ever seen a Big Muscled guy move faster than an average-muscled guy? Me neither. Read "Convict Conditioning 1&2", "Explosive Calisthenics", "Overcoming Gravity"

Hi. I am a high school student soon going to university and studying Comp. Science. I need my laptop to be my primary machine for coding (primarily web development and front end and some backend, I might try my hand at data science), web browsing, watching movies, video editing, running VMs, IDEs, Xcode etc and last and work well for a couple of years. I would be using the MacBook Pro throughout uni and possibly internships/jobs so it needs to be suitable too and powerful too. What I know is that I will need 32 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. Spend less on a windows machine with the specs you're looking for. I personally like Lenovo's upper end thinkpads and Dell XPS 15. There are also a lot of good laptops coming out with AMD processors with good core counts. I guess stick with mac if you definitely need it for strictly iOS development.
