After watching your few videos on upwork I landed my first Upwork Job after 2 years of struggles. I'm a web developer and was struggling a lot and wasted all the connects every month. Then I have a thought of searching some things on youtube for upwork then I found your channel. Try watching Josh's some more videos with keywords like Proposal, Cover Letter. Watch some more videos from the suggestions as well. Also, @JoshBurnsTech can you make a video on upwork's new terms and increase of connects to apply on a job? For someone like us who don't buy, it's more difficult now.

i started my upwork on december 2023 i spent entire connects within 2 days without getting any response from clients. Then i decided to get subscription and switched on boost, availibility and started bidding. And then i got my first client (Also i learnt never use chat gpt for writing proposal 🤣) Now i am 275$ to top rated. Upwork is a game in 2024!!

@@aprilnzuve6471 Luck has absolutely nothing to do with it. That person you just described is an anomaly. The people who win are the ones that consistently put themselves in positions to be lucky. That means doing the same tasks every single day, improving, and going above and beyond. Simply think, "what is everyone else doing?" Then do the opposite. That means when people quit and say it's all about lucky, keep going and keep improving.

Yes Josh. There genuine management consultants charge between $120 - $ 350. But there also digital marketers novice market research analysts who call themselves management consultants at $15-40. I got my first client 4 months ago thanks to you josh but now a days upwork is like a bit wierd you have to post 20 proposals any only 1 client will contact you and most of the time they will not even bother to see anyone proposal

My advice to you is to be even more selective. Setup an RSS feed to alert you via email or slack when a new job is posted that meets your search criteria and only apply for jobs that give you the best chance of winning.
