After flying with United Emirates and Etihad and being treated in a very dismissive way by the female staff. I chose not to fly with them ... hence I chose Qatar. There are also times that I disagree with flight reviewers and have had better experiences than what they commented. Josh, I think you missed mentioning, that the whole point of flight reviews is to help airlines improve their product. How else would an airline know that the product they offer is one of the "best in the world" if everyone only present the good to the company? Perhaps Qatar Airways want to wait until the ratings and public perception of the airline diverged so much, that ridership plummets. Even then, the airline would struggle to figure out what went wrong because they would have destroyed the critical, honest feedback that they need to improve.
@khoiho5721 Жыл бұрын
Tbh, I highly doubt that they will try to listen from the honest flight reviewers. They just Bride Sam Chui and he will going to tell other people how good the service is. Plus they have the money for actually pay them (skytrax) for their rating😊
@artgreen6915 Жыл бұрын
Haha. As the other (so far) reply says perhaps this should be the point of reviews. Sadly not all companies see reviews that way though. At the worst end of the spectrum you'll be aware of the controversy around Amazon and other product and service reviews sometimes suspected of being fake, paid for or induced. Many companies see reviews as a game to be played and the more that behave that way, the higher the pressure on the moral fibre of others because it becomes harder to compete. I agree with you on what reviews SHOULD be about. Trust in reviews is now wafer thin because people suspect incentives are not fully disclosed in many cases.

That is not acceptable, but maybe a chance for them to switch to an airline which accepts human rights and does not put them under pressure like they hav done it right now. They could have apologized, cleaned up their act, ignored the video…done a bunch of things… but they decided to go nuclear. And what has it gotten them? This is what happens when petty autocrats get power. They don’t look at criticism as an opportunity for reflection and improvement, but as an attack on their hubris and respond accordingly. I’m a commercial pilot , I talk to Qatar Airline employees often. Pilots are dead tied - dangerous. Cabin crew are in a hell like job . They complain about late pay and benefits. I sum this up as a dangerous airline when crews are not rested and not treated properly. One nasty airline- NEVER FLY WITH THEM !!! We call them “the Qatar labour camp”. Dangerous airline IMHO. I’ve seen some approaches below minimums and wondering on the ILS / dangerous.

Qatar is the airline that held women hostage and even took them off their flights to force them to have intimate examinations because an infant had been found in a rubbish bin at the airport. I'm willing to bet it was no traveler who did this but a desperate local girl who had to hide an unwanted pregnancy for fear of the severe punishment if she was caught. But they made all these women on planes and in the airport submit to these humiliating examinations. I'd never fly with them or want to visit their country.

I'm a semi retired ethnographer (researcher/people watcher). One piece of advice I have repeated to many different customer facing clients is this: The best way to create a loyal customer, is to show them how brilliantly you fix something that has messed up. In other words, great service in itself doesn't generate loyal customers. The reason being that great service is often the norm. And we expect it whether with an airline or a convenience store. However, the most loyal customers I have ever spoken to, the ones who rave about a brand, are those for whom something massively messed up, and the provider of the service/product fixed it instantly and brilliantly. When you fix a problem in a way that surprises and delights, you gain loyalty and... trust.

On the return, they brought the flight time forward by an hour, then had a delayed takeoff making us 45 minutes late into Doha, leaving only 30 minutes to make the connection to the BA flight. On arrival in the UK, my luggage, along with about 40 others', was missing. I gave them a suggestion like anything left in business class, anything, we are on a flight to Melbourne from Doha and we need to eat They offered us pretzels and coke, UNREAL!!! They then said being that you are in the last row on our next service (breakfast) you will be served first, I then said can you please warm up our breakfast and we will eat that now We were refused, not much we could do as we did not want to make a scene, Oh! btw we did not accept the pretzels we had nothing When we got home I wrote an email to their customer service about the incident and waited over 3 months for a response, they just send us a generic response which would of been a cut & paste message, we are flying again next year and we both refuse to travel Qatar with the experience all stated above During your video, what stuck in my mind was, you are not Sam Chui and do not get bribed, BRAVO, that is one reason I do not subscribe to him, Also I sent an #unband Josh Cahill to Qatar in instagram, and I have also shared your video to most of my drivers here at work over (120) of them who travel regularly Josh keep up the good work, and do not let these giants bring you down

You’re right about the crew being exhausted, unhappy and probably underpaid that I heard them nagging about special meals on a long haul flight. My first class experience was worse than one of my economy class experiences, the flight attendant in my first class trip gave me a wrong immigration card before landing in Cairo and assured me that it was the right one when I doubted it was for me after reading the title which caused me significant delay after it was refused by the immigration officer who gave me another form and asked me to fill it and get in the line again! On my business class flight, The Q suite cabin was not clean with some food debris and hair from a previous passenger and they served me dairy containing bread for my vegan meal!

I fly 4x-10x a month. I also own businesses. All your excuses don’t make sense. Negligence is negligence. They did not deserve to be fired if it only happened once. However, if it is repetitive and they have already been called out by management, then I agree that they deserved to be fired. Your personal issues should never affect the service provided to paying customers. If it does, stay home or just call in sick.
@Levytska Жыл бұрын
@Claudfoz Well they clearly got fired because of one sector and the review did not highlight any gross misconduct, just a comment on their level of motivation. Knowing their roster patterns they could do 20+ flights per month and not in passenger seats but moving in a cabin constantly serving customers without even a proper meal break sometimes. And by the way, fatigue is not a personal issue. It's a body's response to chronic stress and absense of proper rest caused by work overload. I'm not looking for excuses, I just wish that people who don't do crazy shifts and physical work at their jobs would understand that cabin crew are doing their best to deliver great service utilizing available resources but at the end of the day we are not immortal and we also get tired, hungry, sleepy etc like any other human being regardless of occupation

Knowing how many flight attendants are especially when one is in economy, they complain about doing the basics of their jobs a lot. As for Qatar, it is a country that is known for slavery. You can’t impose our own culture to theirs. You can simply get out. Why haven’t they left the job when they are in terrible conditions? Because they haven’t gotten a better opportunity from other airlines.. They are there by choice. If you choose to stay, do your job right and that includes cleaning the toilet in the plane.
@Levytska Жыл бұрын
@Claudfoz they're there by choice correct. And for many it's a choice to support their families and try to make their life better. Not everybody was blessed to be born in a prosperous family. You never know what's behind a smile. It could be 5 kids, sick parent or a huge loan. And if a crew is a single bread winner for their family doing hard work they're not in a position to loose their job in such a savage way. Again, not for gross misconduct but for being a human. No excuses though, I know that everybody has different levels of compassion towards other humans and not everybody will understand. Just supporting my colleagues here. I know how hard they work. I wish that all your flights in the future will have super positive and energized crew. And immaculate toilets of course 😁

Disappointed by Qatar Airways management. Their failure in handling A320 and A321 orders, leading to cancellations by Airbus, is just as unprofessional as using older planes and less skilled crews for routes to countries like India. Equally concerning is their decision to ban Josh which seems more like a petty act of revenge than a sustainable business decision. This series of missteps reflects a serious lack in professionalism.

I am a huge football fan I didn't watch the World Cup apart from my team England and I was sort of hoping we got knocked out early. We got knocked out QF stage after shocking Refs so I did care, but I would usually watch the Final I didn't, Eventhough Messi is to me the best player in the world. And that game was the best game apparently. I wasn't interested. I would never visit the Middle East. I like the fact Emirates send the A380 to my local Birmingham helps the economy along with Qatar and Saudia but I would only use them to connect to Asia, I would never visit those countries. Qatar and Saudi Arabia are probably the worst out of the Middle Eastern Big Four/Three for Human Rights and Freedom Of Speach

Funny how this was posted after my worst experience in Qatar Airways few days ago after they overbooked the tickets preventing myself flying from Doha to JFK leaving at 1:25 am instead they rebooked me at a 3PM flight causing me to wait 13 more hours in the airport, they did the same to a muslim family who are a group of 5+ people who were also suppose to leave at the same hour but on a different flight, never again with Qatar. I also heard alot of disappointments how people get "Qatared" when they book a Qsuite to find out they get a old business class 2-2-2 configuration and they seem to do this commonly, especially changing A380 to smaller aircraft, yikes. I don't understand how Qatar is the "#1 winning airline" as they say, I think Emirates is imo.

Thank you Josh. I must say I’m not surprised. In October 2020 at Doha airport a group of 13 Australian women (among others) were ordered off their flights, strip searched, then examined, to check if they had given birth, a baby had beem found in a bin at Hamad airport. Qatar showed no duty of care to these passengers. Appalling!

Despite many requests from QA to vastly increase flights to/from Australia, Australian government resisted (some have said it was undue influence by Qantas to keep flights tight). However, I am sure the strip search fiasco was a major factor in overlooking QA in favor of greatly increased Turkish airline slots to/from Australia next year. F.... QA don't use them especially if you are female.

Really proud of you for making this video. As an ex QR employee, I can say that the company owes an apology to a lot of crew, who were terminated for silly things. The way the crew were treated under Mr. Baker was horrible. I am thankful now that I am out of that company who would treat us like slaves. I am happy that he has been dethroned and the new CEO looks promising.

Hi Josh, another interesting anecdote from QR. A while ago one Brazilian captain sued QR for unpaid hours and other work related issues. QR’s solution to the problem? They banned ALL Brazilians from joining the airline; a Brazilian can apply for a pilot position, but won’t be called. I am not sure if the ban has been lifted, but the ban has been in effect for a couple of years now.

Racism towards south Asians is real in middle eastern countries(specially in Qatar). I have faced it many times.. I was once travelling there, I have tatto of "Om" (symbol of Hindus) on my wrist.. one passenger on the flight kicked me and not even apologized(I thought it mistakenly happened). but, he whispered to his friend calling me P.a.j.e.e.t and DUNG worshi..er & they both laughed.. But, I controlled myself at that time. & never went in those countries till this day. I have self respect about my culture and religion as well.. I know all peoples are not like that but it was Bad experience...!!

What's crazy is that Qatar missed a wonderful opportunity. As the community recognizes your reviews as honest and genuine, all Qatar had to do was to improve their service. You already had a trip scheduled, and if they were able to turn it around where you were blown away once again, you would have been their biggest ally with a truthful and favorable assessment and that would have been so much better than simply deleting a negative review.

This is another example of the lack of humanity of the powers that be at Qatar. I will never forget the story of passengers trying to get back to Australia when the pandemic hit and all female passengers were ordered off the aircraft at Doha which was ready to head back to Sydney. These poor women was subjected to invasive checks in the back of an ambulance on the tarmac as a baby had been found abandoned in the terminal. They were escorted by armed men and were made to comply. I am glad I never flew Qatar in all my travel days and your experience Josh is the icing on the cake.

I flew them once as a business class passenger - it was the worst flying experience ever. My main seat cushion collapsed and the attendants just ignored me and I had to fly from Doha to LHR on a broken seat. I have flown on a few Middle Eastern airlines Qatar Airways was the worst.
