Hey Josh. Just wanted to know how to upgrade to an emergency row seat. I was flying Malaysian Airlines and I wanted to change my seat because the front passenger leaned his chair back. I asked a flight attendant and she was okay with it since there was no one in the whole emergency row. After a while a different flight attendant came and asked me to go back to my seat which was confusing. If we need to change seats do we need to ask before taking off?

Josh, you nailed it. AirAsia does not promise the world to us. The vast majority of us will even deplane with a feeling that all expectations were met and more. Unlike the big players whereas we are flooded with skyrocketed expectations, but will find ourselves speechless and heavily disappointed that none of the promises were met, they did not even try.

It's great to see you complimenting a crew. Please send a complimentary letter for her. Being a cabin crew isn't an easy job. Also being an airport staff isn't easy. It sounds easy and people do have an easy perspective of an airline staff. But the job is quite tiring and it isn't as easy as others think/expect.

I don't have a need to fly budget airlines except when I am visiting family in Southeast Asia. Beginning in 2016 I have made multiple trips between KL and Chiang Mai or Phuket, as well as a couple domestic flight between those two Thai cities. I have never had a disappointing experience. The young flight crews have been professional and friendly, but also attentive to safety needs. A special treat for my 12 year old grandson was having a picture taken with three of the crew that were waiting with us at the gate. These three ladies helped make his first Air Asia flight memorable.

Living in Miri, Sarawak, since 2015, we use AirAsia often (3 or 4 times a year), primarily KUL, but also SIN, DMK, and a few times to TYO. We never ever had WiFi service on any flights. However, we agree that AirAsia crews are among the best (certainly better than all the North American airlines; short flights, long flights, always happy about the inflight service.

The cost of the meals and upgrades is a massive + on Air Asia too. 16myr is less than £3 or about $4 for Uncle Chins rice. That's about the same cost as a slap in the face on Ryanair..... I've used Air Asia flights 10's of times and never had an issue. Great video as always!

Last year we flown Air Asia Philippines for domestic flights, crew is indeed very friendly. The problem we faced was that Air Asia changed every of our flight (that were booked months in advance) to another time with sometimes not even a day notice, for most of our flights it was not a real issue but for the last from Cebu to Manila it was really problematic. Reaching out to their support did not help at all, had to call Air Asia out publicly on twitter to change the flight to an acceptable time for us.

I agree as long as the crew is being treated fair when workers are treated poorly sometimes they can’t just quit and react with less than great service. You do expect great service on a non-discount airline though.

My favourite food with Air Asia: Pak Nassir's Nasi Lemak (typical Malaysian dish) 😍 But they do have many good food options. Really good value for money. Air Asia never disappointed me either. I'm regularly using them between mainland Malaysia and Sarawak, and it's always a pleasure to be on board! PS: KLIA2 terminal opened in 2014 already. However, it took some years for all the shops & amenities to open.

AirAsia just relaunched flights to Auckland and I wanted to do it but the issue is with their limited food selection given I'm a vegetarian and I can't handle spicy food which both their vegetarian meals are. My friend took them a week ago and he said they sell cup noodles on board which I can only eat so much of those before I clog up my stomach. It's a shame they don't offer more options for people with dietary requirements, I would have booked it if that was not the hurdle

I flew AirAsia in their 'business class' - Sydney to Kuala Lumpur for under $700 AUD! After flying first with emirates 7 times, Biz Class with other Airlines, and god knows how many economy flights (budget and legacy). I can hands down say they are the best on a cost VS product basis- and so much so, I bought one of their plastic A330-300s onboard. They have so got it right! Other Airlines, including the top Airlines could learn a thing to two from AA.

Very interesting review Josh, thank you. I had a lot of problems trying to book Air Asia online from outside Malaysia the last time I tried to use them, so I hope that's been improved or simplified. How did one passenger try to claim the emergency row during rotation? Surely she can't demand the whole row to herself? On an absolutely different subject, I see your trusty check-in suitcase is going strong! What brand or model is it? Airlines seem to destroy luggage very effectively nowadays.

Brilliant review Josh, i took same flight in other direction about a month back to Colombo. Always a solid experience AA relative to the starting expectation of course I’ve found! As a pioneer of the LCC model they very much have the business model tried and tested and do a good job at executing it with pace and efficiency, delivered everything i paid for with a good friendly attitude and the flight got away and landed on time. Food is great and everything on the menu is quite affordable. Exit row seat for around an extra $15 turned out to be an excellent decision on the flight and ended up with whole exit row to myself on a pretty empty flight anyway! If i had to resort to nitpicking wasn’t a fan of the hefty credit card fees but oh well i guess they gotta to make/ recoup money somehow!

HI Josh Another great video well I have never travelled on Air Asia they seem to be the best of the Low Cost carriers. From what you have said that you had a good flight and the cabin crew looked after there customers. Everybody does expect good quality of service but it all starts from the top well where staff are treated equally and respected but you can also look at the people who do the job a lot of people love to this because the get they can travel to lovely places stay in top hotels and get all the perks as well I bet you will find a lot of them in someways have no interest in a career with the airline and will just moan I bet some of them could not care who the passengers are to them they are just people . So tell me Josh on all your travels how many people have you met who are really interested in what they do I think you will find this quite alarming. Anyway have a great time on your next venture.

Malaysian here. I stopped flying AK this year as my last 10 flights last year ended up delayed/cancelled. Their crew is amazing but operational wise they're a wreck. I've been a flight attendant before with MH but left about 20 years ago so I appreciate the subtle moves the crew do to try and make the passengers as comfortable as possible. Anthony, please get your flight ops to space the flights further apart so you can stick closer to your advertised ETD. This is AK's only flaw

Recently flew AirAsia from DAD to CNX with wife and 4 yr old. Good flight experience. On time, reasonably comfortable for budget airline. Good food and choices. My only beef is their online reservation system. extremely clunky, kept crashing, and when I eventually did manage to make a booking, it refused my US credit card. I called my bank and they removed all “security blocks” on the card and it still was not accepted. I eventually had to make the booking through a third party online agent which accepted the card no problem.

Well they change a flight from 2 flights to 4 fights and when I refuse to accept their new flights they said it would take 3 months to process a refund.. but I have heard people waiting 3 years due to COVID and even longer.. what a disgrace airline .and don't get me started on their AI Customer Service App.. I have ended up getting my bank involved in the process of doing a chargeback that includes extra fees with the process which they have to pay.. under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act here in the UK..
