Those crew working hours are highly illegal - I did a calculation based on the data available of the flight from March 6 that you took. The crew was at the gate/ground for 5 hours + 5,5 hour flight time - landed at 14:22, departed at 16:52, equals to another 2,5 hours on the ground in Johannesburg, another 5,5 hours flying back to Lagos. That makes 18,5 HOURS IN TOTAL! This is madness and should be reported to the Nigerian Aviation Authorities! Edit: In fact the plane was never allowed to take off with that delay unless a new set of crew had been called to operate. SHOCKING!

What can you expect from an airline like Air Peace?
@muhammadbashir24402 жыл бұрын
From SOP ( Standard Operating Procedures) Working period can not exceed 14hrs, as long haul flights like this one will require the crew to have a rest or a layover of not less than 10hrs at the destination or another crew takes over for the return, if the same crew operate for the return without having that amount of rest, its of no doubt against regulations.

To be honest, I would be surprised if they even knew anything about that, and even if they did, they probably wouldn’t do anything. In this case at least, they almost certainly know of all these issues already and the root cause is probably either that they don't have enough money or more likely, they are cutting corners because of greed. Since they have no intent or ability to follow that advice, this is simply bad press that has the potential to reduce their revenue. Why would such a person be happy about this situation? Don't assume all people want to do what is best for everyone or sometimes even the company. Trying to harass the reviewer and/or making fake reviews to improve their reputation is cheaper than fixing the actual issues (though also less likely to succeed).

The country has not made any progress because it was a vessel for Europeans to make money rather than a country. That place should be at least 6 different countries or regional government so that there will be some kind of genuine will to make progress by the different nations. Rather, the western powers that put the crazy place in together are hell bent on keeping their company intact. Even the youtuber that made this video was probably paid by them as to justify why the UK has refused to grant Air Peace a slot so that they will keep extorting money from Nigerians with high airfare. There is a lot of bias on this video! But of course, Nigeria gave him the opportunity to push such narrative.

I worked in Nigeria in the 90s and used to fly Nigerian airways, the experience was very similar to Air Peace, the amount of bush meat they used to bring on the plane on the way to London often resulted in blood dripping out of the overhead lockers! As for safety, we did an unscheduled landing at a military airport, we were then told that the runway was too short to takeoff and the plane would have to be offloaded, bit later they came back and said they had re-done the calculations and they could now take off! Your assessment of flying in Nigeria is quite correct, but in my experience it is far often bad rather than good. The craziness I noticed in this video is not all Air Peace issues. Which I believe Mr Cahill already knows about. This is just the craziness with Nigerian Airport operators body FANN. This happens with almost all airlines operating within Lagos Airport. Other issues such as crew customer training and licences show there is more room to improve. But to be honest, the Nigerian government need to do more to support its local operators such as Air Peace; first support getting a Dry Lease agreement to get newer aircraft. Secondly, new safety and training programs to improve our airport ground operations. At least these two issues when addressed make Nigeria's air space safe and peaceful.

For those wondering why the workers are sleeping inside the duty free shops at night : - - Reason # 1 : If they don't sleep there the police will break in and steal the duty free goods at night. - - Reason # 2 : They usually work 48 hour to 72 hour shifts twice a week so they only change their clothes and have a proper shower when they are on leave (typically for 24 hours).

True. But I'll tell you why as a Nigerian. 1) Most of these people live so far away from the airport and recieve very little pay. Which makes them take the hard decision of spending the night at work. 2)The public transport system (high speed trains, buses) that are present in many developed countries are non existent in Nigeria. Which causes serious traffic to work in the morning. Many People who live in Lagos, leave their houses 5 hours before resumption time, just to meet up. 3) Most of these people are not paid well enough in their jobs, so they sleep at work to reduce expenses. The Naira has lost so much value, that people tend to spend almost 70% of their pay on breakfast, lunch and transportation to work and back. Leaving very little for other things like rent etc. These are a few reasons why they sleep there. I might have repeated several reasons. Pardon my repetition. Cheers

Boeing PM here. I've noticed that on the budget flag carriers you take, that the slow engine spool-up and long take-off roll are used. Although this practice does put less stress on the equipment, the degree I've seen used on your (2) flights (Iran Air and Peace) suggests that the pilots really seem hesitant to use the equipment at even 75% of normal.EG, The pilots don't have faith that the equipment won't fail at normal use levels. Am I seeing this correctly? How do you compare Western carrier take offs to these flag carriers? PS. Those tail strike pictures suggest SERIOUS structural damage probable to the empennage (Tail). I personally would never fly on a plane that had this. PSS. A friendly concern.......You should really invest in a covert camera, because I wouldn't be at all surprised if you DISAPPEARED or were poisoned by the strong-men of these flag carriers if you draw attention to your camera. Plus, just suggesting that a Muslim woman employee in Iran was flirting with you is a VERY serious offense. She could literally be stoned of hurt and you could be arrested by morality police for the "accusation". You should be more careful with some of your off-the-cuff comments in militant countries. Westerners often don not understand how little it takes to find themselves in serious trouble. I managed dozens of employees flying to all corners of the world for Boeing, and some shocking things happened for no understandable reason. Take care.

Very much agree with you about “outing” the female Iranian ground crew. I’ve never been there but have had friends from Iran and they were constantly under surveillance when living there. Also the tail strikes and lack of faith in the equipment is scary. The pilot and a member of the cabin crew emailed Josh about these issues, which suggests total desperation.

As an electrician, the airport lights are driving me bonkers.
@PutsOnSneakers2 жыл бұрын
facepalm, if you were a good electrician you'd know the Hz of those lights don't resonate well with the framerate of the camera that's how you get flickering. Go take your smartphone out and try to record LED headlights of any car outside your door right now you see even more flickering due to LED lights having an even slower rate ( same things: framerate VS led Hz not being in sync.) man you suck at your job if you didn't know that
@CanadaMatt2 жыл бұрын
It's the camera's framerate combined with its exposure. You can see the same thing in many dashcams when the tail lights of other cars appear to flicker.
@JuaniPodrido2 жыл бұрын
@@CanadaMatt No it's the lights, if you see the reflection on the floor light is still flickering or his hands, camera's don't capture that phenomenon when it's not recording the source. You can see some light fixtures have no lighting, makes you to be believe that lighting issues is not a priority for the airport.

Actually, I think the Iran Airport employees are polite to Non-Iranians. Some of them go on power trips and speak very harshly with a ride tons of voice to Iranians who are visiting Iran based on my personal experience. I agree with you that employees at the Tehran Airport were actually nice to him. I don’t think they were rude because they laughed and spoke Farsi. They are in Iranian airport employees and the language spoken in Iran is Farsi and not in English. So, it makes sense that the employees spoke with each other in Farsi and they did speak with him in English since he spoke with them in English. So, I think it’s ridiculous that people are commenting that the Iranian Airport employees were rude to speak with each other in Farsi in front of him!

The only solution for this airline negligence is to report all their safety issues to foreign spaces where they operate. They will get banned and they will eventually either fix the issues or go bankrupt.

I've lived in Nigeria for 8 years, since I was a boy (8 years old to 15/16 years old) and it's 2022 and the check-in experience in Lagos airport has not change at all and I am baffled. One of my least favourite place is Lagos airport because of how corrupt some workers. They're not shy if they want money, especially from foreigner. I still immigrant officer asking for money while checking my family's passport.

The fear of cameras in public facilities in Nigeria is probably because of incompetence and poor services. Apparently, a recording might capture proof of their shoddy standards. And we are what, 62 years-old as a nation? The really galling part is that our public facilities CAN actually be good and acquire global acclaim. But appointment to leadership positions in our country often isn't by merit. It's based on other grounds.

Lots of oil in Nigeria and an aircraft gets delayed for several hours because fuel has not been secured...Ironic, isn't it? With respect to the flight time, if it is the same set of crew that was rostered to fly the aircraft back to Nigeria, they should never have taken off from Lagos in the first place due to flight duty time limitations. Secondly, customer service is not very good in many parts of Africa. The exceptions are few and far between. Viewers reading this comment should not get me wrong, some places have excellent customer service! Very brave of you to fly on those aircraft. I would not dare. Thank you for the video.
