I work as a ground handler in the USA, primarily for international flights. When it comes to positive bag match, that regulation only applies for international flights, not domestic. It's not just the delay. The unprofessional behavior of the crew, airline, airport crew... also the fleet itself. The planes are unsafe. If the planes are that old, are they being properly maintained? I doubt it very seriously. It's life threatening, these planes could crash with more than 100 passengers on board. That is reckless to put people's lives on the line like that. Pilots have sent photos of serious damage to at least a plane and that could bring a plane down. It's unsafe for people to use this airline. People are not properly trained. It makes one wonder how prepared the pilots are. If they encounter an issue, would they be able to solve it or crash? It's sad because it's an accident waiting to happen.

Hey Josh! About your luggage and offloading of unidentified bags… (14:05) So called “positive passenger-bag matching” rule was discussed and later implemented after Lockerbie disaster in 1988. It basically means that if there is no passenger on board of the aircraft, his baggage must also be offloaded. It’s a security aspect - there’s more chance terrorists put explosive devices on board (in suitcases etc) when they are not on that flight. But since this “rule” (or more recommendation for airlines) was “implemented” it also changed a bit and got some allowed exceptions… Also, we might obey this rule as much as possible in bigger, Middle Eastern airlines, in US, Europe etc., but i’m not exactly sure how it actually works in Africa. My degree thesis for masters in law was actually on this topic - aviation security vs right for privacy. Also i’m one of Emirates cabin crew and would be my absolute pleasure to serve you on one of our flights one day. Safe skies! :)

@@RealityStand You are justifying incompetence and corporate rascality. I have had similar delays on Air Peace flights for so many times even before the so-called recent aviation fuel scarcity. I remember an Air Peace flight from Kano to Lagos in March 2021 which was delayed for nearly seven hours. We eventually landed in Lagos the following day around 5am. And these delays have been the norm rather than the exception. I remember when the National Assembly complained about these delays on an official trip to Lagos some weeks ago and promised to call the airlines to order, Airlines Operators of Nigeria (AON) responded by jacking up the air fares on all routes in the country. they are operating like a drug cartel. AON , in a press conference went ahead to blame everybody and everything for these inexplicable and indefensible delays. They exonerated themselves from any responsibility and behaved as if they were even doing us a favour. In 1982 to 1986 I worked in Lagos with Nigeria Airways, and from your video I can see that Nigeria has not Improved at all since then. At that time everything in Nigeria was chaotic, unorganized, and extremely corrupt. I can tell you a little true story from check in, in Murtala Muhammad Airport in Lagos. At that time, check in was not computerized. The check in personal had a peace of paper with stickers, with all the seat numbers printed. The seat number stickers was put on the passengers boarding cards, and when there where no more stickers left, the flight was full. But sometimes there was still a lot of passengers expecting to get a boarding card. So people/passengers bribed the check-in crew to get a boarding card, the check-in crew simply used a new paper sheet with seat numbers, and gave the remaining passengers a boarding card. You can probably imagine the situation at the boarding gate. 450 passengers expecting to board a plane with room for 350 People was fighting at the gate, people was fighting inside the aero plane because many passengers had boarding card with the same seat number, crew fighting with passengers, police fighting with passengers. It could take up to 2 hrs before things cooled down.

Luggage is usually only offloaded on International flights, and if a country chooses to follow the rule for domestic. The US, for example, doesn't have a rule to positive identify/match passengers with bags - aka, your bags can fly without you. This rule came after Pan Am 103 exploded over Lockerbie where a passenger checked in explosives but didn't board the flight themselves.

This must be my cue to start selling good-luck charms for travelling by Air Peace. I've heard experiences from others that are similar to this but I must confess that it has never been my lot when travelling by Air Peace. Let me hasten to add that I'm not a heavy traveller and my route is always Lagos-Abuja and vice versa (my last flight was on April 15th 2022). I don't know what type of plane it was, but it was as bright as a penny and a pleasure to fly in. I've experienced only one delay so far in my travel history with them. It was a short and justifiable delay. I've also always been lucky to meet courteous cabin crew on my trips. No, I'm not holding a brief for Air Peace. And yes, I appreciate honest reviews; but linking Mr. Onyeama's private life to a review of the services of his airline makes it seem like a personal grudge. That doesn't sit well with me, sorry. (I don't know the man; didn't know he had issues with the law...) I'm so sorry that most people here have had unpleasant experiences. Hopefully Air Peace looks into things quickly. In the meantime, they remain my first choice.
@BoySoma_2 жыл бұрын
I honestly felt the same way about his comment on Mr Onyeama’s past dealings with the law. That’s his private life and it doesn’t necessarily correlate with how his business is being run. There are ‘criminals’ who run their business with diligence as well. That being said, this was a great and well detailed review.

As a travel agent, sometimes the roots of the problems are from the airlines. They are making big schedule change on their passengers itinerary on the same day of their flight, and without the passengers knowing, they will gonna miss their flights due to the changes which is really frustrating. Now, they will call travel agent to rebook their flight, but figuring it out the ticket is non exchangeable and non refundable. Now the blame will put mostly to us when in fact, all the problems are all something to do with the airlines. 😡🤬

Been following your videos for a while and love your enthusiasm despite the circumstances. 'Air Chaos' seems a more accurate description. When taking flights within Africa in my past life, TIA (this is Africa) comes to mind. It's just a way of going about things using the African vibe of approaching a situation. It's not offensive, as most Africans would agree to the same from what I knew from living there for several years. There is always a way to get things done in Africa, just got to find the proper way (which can take time time on occasion, and yet it can be done) and most are just handicapped by the poor setup from management which is no fault of their own. Service in Africa can be the most authentic and wonderful once you break down the barriers and they see you as a real person. But all that aside, this experience is just sub-par for Africa or anywhere. Air Peace, is clearly one to skip.
@bbalderston1252 жыл бұрын
Those are good observations about Africa. The worst case is foreigners acting presumptuous or mocking or rude. I'm a heavy long-haul int'l business class traveler. An in-continent flight I had from Ghana had an Afrikaaner (aka white) being very vocal and aggressive with the African crew over nothing and I intervened, I really wanted him tossed from the plane. People also need be aware their biases and microaggressions. I was on a short EasyJet flight within Europe where the check-in, boarding, flight, offloading were just terrible with a bunch of burly low class Brit soccer hooligans and a 'pack them in and no service attitude crew. I'd take the polite crews of Kenya Airways, Africa World Airways, etc over them anyday. Like you said, the service can be very engaging when barriers are broken, the crews came to know me and we always are happy to see each other. 🌍👍🏽

Everything will be alright soon.

All commentators rightly aired their views and experience flying Airpeace Airline. All airlines including American, African and European airlines have equally experienced their peculiar experience due to airline industry logistics. It is obvious that the narrator is a paid hack reporter by competitors. We don’t need a compromised narrator to influence jour choice of airline. The taste of a pudding is in the eating. I have stopped flying some European and American based airlines due to bad experience. Do the same if you have a bad experience and that will likely influence any airline to be customer friendly.
