The wardrobe is so minimalist that you even went with skinny ties to reduce fabric. LoL I actually have a similar wardrobe in the works, I have a lot of old graphic tees I am still wearing until they are unwearable but other than that, just a few pairs of jeans which I repair when they rip or get a blowout, a few shorts, some suspenders since I don't wear belts, and then a handful of t-shirts and button-ups along with a few vests and two jackets and a few pairs of canvas sneakers. I have a lot more color in my wardrobe tho, purples, greens, blues, but that's just personal choice. I have 4 or 5 hats since that is one of the things we make at the design studio, and since it's so hot here I pretty much have to wash each hat after I wear it once outside.
@joshfenn4 жыл бұрын
Definitely nothing wrong with the color! I tried to expand my color palette in my wardrobe but it just never worked out, I always resort back to my blacks and grays. Love the bit about the ties haha. Thanks for sharing your setup Dana!
@IdeaStudioBKK4 жыл бұрын
@@joshfenn I used to lean heavily on that black and gray monotone look as well, but I just felt as tho color was lacking and it really livened up what i wear. I actually really love skiny ties and knit ties, but because my shoulders are so wide the proportions just don't work for me, so I am a bit jealous that you get to rock them ;-)

That's so true about taking it slow and what fits your life. My wardrobe pretty much revolves around daily essentials, so mostly workout clothes that work as my house/work attire as well. 😂 Even though I have a vision of my style and what I would like to incorporate into my wardrobe, there is no use for them right now, so it's better to wait rather than spend on having them (only to collect dust which I have been guilty of and money down the drain.)
@joshfenn3 жыл бұрын
I totally get that! Working from home the past few years I’m usually just in gym shorts and a tshirt most of the time so I really don’t need a ton of clothes beyond that. Going slow and making meaningful and useful additions is always the best way to go 👍

I am a hoarder, but since my very first 'decluttering' I started becoming more intentional with my clothes. I am so inspired by my husband because he is a minimalist. He likes gray, black, and a little bit of white shirts. I want to become a minimalist because i had a positive experience with my very first decluttering. It relieves me from stress caused by my stuff. Right now I am practicing the project 333. I hope it's gonna work for me. If not, then I'll find another way to control myself from having too much clothing.

The decluttering process can definitely get addictive, glad you’re enjoying the process and being more thoughtful for yourself!

I love wardrobe videos. I have a Tilly hat I bought for £49 just before the financial crash. Then when the crash came I was horrified that I had spent so much on a hat. But here we are 12 years later and the hat is good as new. Average cost per year £4.08. I wear it every day the sun shines. But the best thing is it has a secret pocket. (Err ......not so secret now!) There is more pleasure in owning fewer things.

Loved this video! Would definitely start planning to start my minimalist wardrobe. If i can ask for your opinion: Do you think it would be a good idea to have multiple pieces of the same shirt and shorts for everyday wear around the house?
@joshfenn4 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! I think that would be a perfectly good thing to do but not completely necessary if you don’t already own the multiples and don’t need the extra clothing. I pretty much do this with my tshirts and gym shorts you saw in the video, I found shorts I thought were really comfy a few years back and bought 2 pair 👍

For the "everyday shoes" how do you do it so they don't smell? I used to do that and I swear I would shower (haha) but my shoes would always smell. I switched to 3 pairs and that works for me. But any tips for how to make it work with the one pair?
@joshfenn4 жыл бұрын

I have been looking for a simple dark grey or black hat. Funny... like yours lol. I live in a city in the Pacific NW that has few good store options. My trips to thrift stores have mostly bombed. Can you share the brand of black hat you have? Not trying to copycat. I don’t want a sports branded ball cap hat. I’m not going to pay $80 for a hat!

Respectfully what about undershirts, socks & draws?
@joshfenn4 жыл бұрын
Thought about including these but it just felt a little boring a long winded. Nothing too exciting, I have one undershirt for formalwear, 6 pair of underwear, and a handful of socks mixed between dress socks, wool socks for hiking/travel, and cotton socks to wear around the house and with activewear 👍
@joshfenn4 жыл бұрын
For sure! My undershirt and underwear are from tommy John, would highly recommend them. My wool socks are smart wool, been very happy with them. My dress socks are a mix of brands and the cotton socks are just cheap basics from puma 👍

Josh Fenn what determines the amount of an item? I understand suits, belts, shoes. It’s the other items.
@joshfenn4 жыл бұрын
Pricing you mean? Clothes pricing is usually dictated by the fabric and manufacturing quality and the design cost.
