I remember watching her as she groomed the Jackson 5 for success, but never knew her back story, so this is extremely interesting to me. She was portrayed by former Miss America Vanessa Williams in the Jacksons’ two part mini series in around 1992. And I can’t wait for her to write that book.

The Great Suzanne De Passe is an amazing woman. She really does not get enough credit for helping the Jackson 5 become Superstars and discovering the legendary Lionel Richie and the Commordores.

This is truly a rare gem of a interview! I wish she did more and will do more. Suzanne Depasse has an incredible career. The projects she mentioned that she is currently working on, I know will be huge when they are completed. I just know it. I think a real Diana Ross bio picture needs to be done. Hint hint Ms. Depasse.

Absolutely charming and engaging, both of you. Talk show host, suits you well. You seem very relaxed and comfortable. She has a divine vibration. She could probably make anyone feel comfortable. Wow, what a story, especially what was not said. According to Suzanne, Motown was vastly successful when she was hired, at 20. Gordy already had 3 assistants. She couldn't type so they stuck "creative" in front of assistant title... She gets set up immediately in one of their apartments. When she tries to get in touch with Gordy, about the Jackson's, she has to wait, day/days to tell him about how amazing they are. He resists, she "has to beat him up" to get him to finally see them. WTF? that's her job!!! Why doesn't he believe her? I would love to hear all the co-workers "views" of that time.

Fascinating that an interviewer would not take the time to be sure that his background information on someone famous was not complete, nor correct. That is not how one does an interview (and yes, I interviewed a few famous people in the 1970s). Nor is slouching in the chair a good look when interviewing anyone. Sit up straight: it makes the interviewer look more in command of the interview.

Barry was great at delegating people to do certain things, and I can tell that she learned as she went and that’s how Lew Wasserman and other big producers got started and they are so good because they have had hands on at every level. Joe was a tyrant and calling your father by their first name means they have no respect for him at all.

What’s Going On was our song or one of our songs in Vietnam, I didn’t dap but smoked pot for the first time with my black buddies, but I watched them invent Dapping and was on the cutting edge of what’s going on for real. Phu Cat phi Zappa dappa S Vietnam. Talk about someone that doesn’t get enough credit for what she’s created she’s it. She fits it perfectly, so you want to talk to the boss or the one that knows what’s going on. She knew what was going on and created those great groups.

You really shouldn’t have to read the introduction like that in front of the guest. It looks like you really don’t know about them and didn’t care to memorize basic information. A teleprompter or off screen card might help. It just seemed a bit disrespectful to an actual legend of Motown.
