That’s awesome! Happy to hear that… really just depends what you want to do with the bike. The xxx is great for the road and is faster than a stock surron, but if you want to ride off road I think the R is worth spending the extra money. I see a lot of people selling the xxx cause they were impatient and now wish they got the R. I just raced the R completely stock in a pit bike race this weekend and had a blast

@@freerfixedit I’m rocking the 21/18 wheel set now! Milk racing wheels, Michelin starcross 5 front, Dunlop in the back. Traction, confidence and feel is way better, this setup gives the bike a way better stance also, even making the seat more comfortable now that the stink bug stance is gone. The tires are obviously much heavier than before, so I’ve tried to level the playing field by fitting a 54 tooth rear sprocket and non o-ring chain. I’m really liking it! Downside is range has been affected maybe 10% less range or greater. Also eco mode is slower it seams. Instead of 28mph, it feels like 22 now? Speedo isn’t accurate so hard to give an exact mph. Overall it’s nice upgrade, IF, you don’t need max range then I recommend it. The 21” front may be all that’s needed if you have a proper 19” knobby dirt tire on the back also.

@@shanedog9082 nice! I definitely want to look into wheel and power upgrades soon! There’s a setting in the display called “GR” which stands for gear ratio I think. But there’s 5 different settings in there that are used to calibrate the Speedo. Whichever ratio gets you most accurate is the one you should use for the 21/18 setup

That setup is heavy and tores affect the speed and range dramatically. Woth that added weoght you'll want more power very quickly

Great video! My sting R just got here and we have many of the same upgrades in mind haha. I also got the smalll bar end mirrors that fold in. I like the form factor enough to justify the small mirror, but I also haven't found a way to get them to fit in there. It doesn't really screw in so I was thinking about an epoxy perhaps. I also have the square headlight connectors which I unfortuantely found out when trying to install a headlight switch that had the original oval connections. Do you know if there's any headlight switches that have the square connector yet? If not, I'll probably solder the existing ones I have to some square connectors from amazon. I'm not sure if the wires are the same though, and it's just the connectors that are different.

I don’t think the aftermarket world has any with the square connectors yet. If my bike had a square connector, I think what I would do is cut the square connector off the bike and order another headlight switch, and cut the oval connector off of it, and solder it into the bike. That way you only have to cut and splice one time, and your headlight and switch will then fit

If you like those shimano pads you can get nukeproof sintered pads for shimano saint brakes from chainreaction cycles for a third of the price of those shimano pads. They dont have the fins but they still work as well and dont rattle(the fins can raylttle on the brake calipers). I buy the nukeproofs in the 4 pacs and have extras stashed in my truck at all times

@@freerfixedit Yo dude I got a quick question. How tight/loose do you run your chain overall? I currently run the stock o ring chain kinda loose because when I tighten it, it makes this "rhythmic" or "repetitive" sound from what I'm assuming is the chain and the front sprocket. I've seen a few other vids of the "R" making the same noise. Not sure if it's normal or not though. Having it loose (1" deflection") gets rid of that "rhythmic" sound for me, but now it just rattles anytime I go over anything that isn't flat lol. I wanna run it tight to reduce that rattle, but that other repetitive sound gets super annoying lol. I just ordered myself a non o ring chain to see if it would help, because that stock one is super stiff. Also, would softening the rear compression help with different terrain constantly "bouncing" my rear wheel, causing the chain to rattle? Or is that more or a rebound thing, or both?? Do you have an active IG so I could send a vid to show you what I'm talkin about? My bad for the long comment g loll. Appreciate you! 🤙🏾

@@Randumbly up to you with the chain. You can check out my maintenance 101 vid for that. As far as the rear shock… compression is the downward travel of the shock, rebound is how fast it springs back. If you’re getting bounced I would slow/ soften the rebound

Is the rear brake caliper supposed to have some forward and backwards free play wiggle? I changed my sprocket and torqued everything right and noticed this. Maybe it was doing it before and I didn’t notice

If you’re talking about where the caliper and guard slide onto the swingarm, then yeah there’s a little wiggle room. For when you adjust your chain, the caliper can move forward and back with the wheel. Let me know if this isn’t what you’re talking about

When you first got the bike did you re-pack the headset bearings and throw some grease on the axels? Seems like these bikes come with very little from factory on the headsets.

Probably would be easier to cut and replace the bikes headlight square plug and replace it with a surron oval. Then your headlight and switch will be compatible and you’ll only have to cut and splice 1 time 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah there’s a few brands out there to choose from. Softening the rear shock and doing the seat mod helps some. Also if you do go 16/19, you can save money by just getting a 16” rear first and using the stock front 19

I already swapped them. I can check the specs and see what the difference is. I can also get the stock tires on a scale and see. But I will say the shinkos were slightly heavier. And the bike did lose a tiny bit of acceleration because of it

Stock tire is like 4.5lbs and shinko 241s are like 6.5lbs

Appreciate you! So the back wheel is all that will matter with the speedo. The display has a calibration setting for 17” or 19” wheels. Also, there are gear ratio settings that are used to get the speedometer as accurate as possible. I went to a 52t rear sprocket and had to adjust gear ratio to get the speedo accurate again. All you have to do is use a phone with a gps speedometer, and go through the settings until you find the one that is most accurate/ close to the gps speed reading. My exact problem with the later shipped bikes, got mine less then a month ago and ordered the upgraded headlight and on/off switch. My bike has the square shaped connector and the on off switch was only able to functional act as a kill switch. Pls help with name or link of square headlight and on off switch to go with it.

I don’t think the aftermarket world has caught up yet to have headlights and switches for the square connector yet. But here’s the name of them and a link. Did you swap out your stock tires? Any dropping speed overall? I'm hitting 5556 mph on my speedometer on the bike. Not GPS tested but I'd rather sacrifice some of those miles per hour for some range. If swap and tires out will give me better range

Purchased tow new Talaria Sting R MX4 (one for myself and one for my wife). In ECO Mode, top speed is 14MPH, in Sport mode we only hit 18. When we rented in Moab, we were near 28MPH. Battery is at 67% (both Units) did I miss something in assembly as to limit performance to only 18MPH?

They are artificially limited from factory. Look up talaria brown wire. It needs to be cut to unlock the full power. But even limited, 14 and 18 mph seems unusually slow

No the rear light stays on... the connector for the rear light is the same as the headlight on my bike, so you could run a switch to it as well, youd just have to lengthen the wires to reach the bars

Yeah for the most part. I think you need a socket to put the front wheel on but that’s it. It’s a bunch of Allen’s and a wrench in a little pack. I usually throw it in my bag just in case on rides
