I think a lot of people don't realise that this movie is self aware and satire mixed with very real and honest feelings. It reminded me a lot of George Lucas' directing and how he wore his heart on his sleeve, whilst the background was operatic. It will definitely age well. A modern classic!

I feel like the marketing team should've pushed a "We Dare You To Think. Experience. Immerse. And Question This New Film That Defines CINEMA." It kinda pushes people who are hungry of 70's filmmaking with modern technology, of a film that makes people wonder about the human experience in todays world and the parallel of the past, ie the Roman empire. Basically, we as humans are a limited species in which, we are the creator of innovative technologies, but we somehow never learn from our mistakes.

Coppola has made a new film that has confused, questioned, excited, breathless new film that really defines CINEMA. As everyone has forgot, film is a directors medium in the visual art of cinema. I'm so glad he got to make this film. Watch, 10 years later, this film will be considered one of the greatest films ever made, similar to Apocalypse Now. The best part of film is when a film transcends time and grows through generations. You have to watch this film more than once to truly get it, when it talks about society, government, ideologies, themes, the human experience, and so much more, similar to Apocalypse Now. It just makes you think, but if you are more into linear films, you will NOT like this film. lol.

lol this film will never be highly regarded. You have drank the kool-aid. It was an awful movie.
@ValentinaTheCreator3 ай бұрын
@@antilocust Yeah... the cool aid, or I just understood what he's going for and you didn't. And mind you, they said the exact same thing you said about Apocalypse Now, and you're in that spectrum of trashing it, instead of just saying, 'I didn't get it'. Let's see how it hold 10 years from now. I'm pretty sure people will not care or forget about Deadpool vs Wolverine or Everything Everywhere All At Once, but will have cinema theory, or political conversations, and Megalopolis will be the film students watch to analyze today's society and cinema -_-

42:15 ----- Yes, the world is essentially rich people profiting off of the misery and suffering of the masses. We are a despicably sadistic species. Even this movie, like all art and entertainment, is capitalizing off of the masses' need for escapism as a kind of painkiller to counteract the emptiness of our morally and philosophically bankrupt lives.

excuse my bad english, i really have to say, critics, media, always kinda infilitrated by a narrative. Especialy films with a deep meaning, also political and i really think MEGALOPOLIS is a highly critical movie about the illness in the system. When movies recall names like "human-family" and mention "some few rule us all", this some conspicuous words. The few, didnt want us to have those seeds, floral in our brain. Great movie, will be honoured in 10 years, when the Corridor of opinion gets wider, hopefully!

Coppola is absolutely one of our great all time filmmakers. I love his passion to want to have made this movie. It just sucks that everything that has come out about him and his behavior on making this movie doesn’t quite look good. From his quotes, to the actual video of him harassing the female extras. Not a good look for someone of his status.

And have you took the time to actually look into said allegations? That’s all they are currently and they’re being disputed by other actresses who were on set. Love FFC !!!!, but let me tell you Megalopolis is a DISASTER, WORST FILM I EVER SAW and thats the reason why NON STUDIO wanted to produce it !!! It is the sum of incomprehensible philosophical scenes that have nothing to do with each other. The female performances are mediocre and the male performances are forgettable. Obviously some snobbish critic is going to say that it is a masterpiece, but if this film was directed by an unknown it would not have even been released.
