Best gift I ever bought was actually my mom “helping me” buy a meat grinder for my dad when I was about 8. It was in a thrift store (we were not wealthy) and I wanted it for him because he said he loved ham salad sandwiches and I thought we could make them. So we took the meat grinder home and my mom helped me clean it up really nice, and “I” gave it to my dad, and we made so much ham salad that I then ate for school lunches for so long that I can’t even think about it anymore without feeling sick. Love you dad ♥️

I worked at Amazon as a second job during the holiday season loading the semis and I’ll tell u right now … I can see why they went on strike. Period. They would put ONE person on the truck some nights to build the walls AND work the line. Ridiculous. And we only got one 20 min break which includes walking to and from the work spot.

I had an Amazon job in Scotland in the warehouse part with the trolleys and getting peoples items. It's the only job that's ever made me physically sick. I lived two hours away from the site and had to catch transport to get there so FORGET any sort of free time - wake up 5 am, to get there by 8am. Leave 6pm, get home 9pm. It was a miracle I got to eat dinner and bathe. I had to weigh if eating was worth it that night if I wanted better sleep. The lunches were no where near long enough for that amount of people at the actual warehouse, either. You're rushing even on your break. You get five minutes if you're lucky of sitting before you're expected to be on the go again. It's truly a horrible experience. I got told so many times to pick up the pace despite struggling bc I had to CONTINUALLY go find ladders (I'm 4'11, and my luck had me getting all the items on the high shelves, but ofc all the ladders were always so many isles away from me when I needed them) But also apparently being careful with the trolley was being too slow. They do not care if you injure people or work yourself sick so long as you reach quota.

Ten years ago two of my younger brothers worked at Amazon and one of them quit after a couple of months. The other one quit after a year because he said he was required to move more products in a smaller space. This year I tried to do as little Christmas shopping at Amazon and every day Alexa kept notifying about items I would be interested in🙄 And next month I’m skipping my subscribe and save because I can get most of those things at Target.

as someone who previously worked as a delivery driver at amazon last year around christmas they really do expect the impossible. we had to do up to 200 stops per day which at a 10 hour shift leaves us 3 minutes per stop which means we get 3 minutes to go from when we parked at your house to when we park at the next house. i tried so hard to keep up that i slid around a corner on ice and crashed head on into a tree. i was asked to sign a paper that stated i was at fault. and for 4 months i got no hours. when i came back in better weather i was fired because i wasn’t fast enough. i wasn’t fired by jeff bezos, i was fired by two working class people trying desperately to make a profit off the business they contracted out to amazon. so any legal recourse i pursued would come out of the pockets of people who couldn’t afford it.

This is going to age me- when I was a kid my mom camped outside to get me a tomagotchi at the nearest Boscovs. Unfortunately she didn't get one- BUT she found out KFC was selling gigapets (they were the exact same they just had a little KFC logo on the case). She went in there and bought the very last ones they had. It was a holiday miracle. I fvcking loved that thing. Now I have the tomagotchi app on my phone. It's just not the same.

The way I instantly connected with this. I was literally just saying this to a friend about how bad of a gift giver I am. If they could only know how much time I spend thinking about it. Even when I think I got a good one it's not. I admire good gift givers.

Wrapping presents. Had insane amounts of drama this year. Alone on Christmas Eve. Wrapping presents for my 9 year old who is court-ordered to be with her dad tonight, and does not want to be there. No friends here tonight, Family scattered all over the place, or passed away. Algorithms have brought my suggested feed down to almost nothing that I want to watch. You are an absolute Rockstar for posting on Christmas Eve! THANK YOU JOSH!!!! Really though, you made a huge impact on my last year, and you most especially made such an impact this evening. What a gift you truly are. ❤

Sorry about the situation with your ex. It's brutal to not be with your child, especially when she's made it clear she doesn't want to go. It feels selfish and controlling for exes to insist, even when it just makes everyone miserable.

This is why he didn't let the Washington Post--which he owns--print their endorsement of Harris the week before the election, and why just after the election he lippity-lop bounced down to Mar a Lago to take a knee. He seems all too happy to ride shotgun for fascists and in return all he wants are a thousand loopholes for Amazon and maybe some federal troops to break up strikes if they get too pesky.

My son and daughter-in-law have a successful business - but they take care of their employees. They pay them well, and give them financial planning advice. Consequently, they attract better workers, and retain them. It can be done. There's no excuse for big business to fail so hard at it...

Mark my words, Josh Johnson will be up there with people like Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, and Bill Burr in 10 years. He is hilarious while still talking about real social issues.... that is a very hard balance to find. I'm so happy I found out about him, keep up the good work brother!

Josh, when my big brother came home from Vietnam, he came to my college and I fixed him up with my suitemate. They became an instant item and a few weeks later, he drove from NW Pennsylvania to New Jersey to see her and meet her parents. He took her a gift, and when she opened it, all three of them turned to look at him. His gift was an inner tube for a car tire. He explained, “I know you must get showered with flowers and candy. I wanted something to make you remember me.” They got married in less than a year.

I'm a teenager trying to parent from a distance my severely neglected 15 year old sister who is really see struggling with lashing out, spending all day online, no emotional regulation. She finally opened up a little bit today. She's staying with toxic abusive extended family over Christmas while I'm alone. I can't relate to typical relatable Christmas family stories. But thank you for the laughs

My submission to the Tales of Terrible Gifts competition: A few years ago, my grandparents’ only gift to my mom was a handheld carpet shampooer. A couple years later, their only gift to her was a vacuum. Grandma at least means well, but oof…
