so, fire fang hitting around wonder guard is due to a really fascinating programming error! the way i understand it, wonder guard is programmed to not block the 1st turn of 2 turn moves like solar beam. when they were programming the list of moves to not block the 1st turn, they accidentally put in the id for fire fang, 273, instead of shadow force, 272 (at least i think i did). since fire fang is only 1 turn, but is on the charge move list, it’s allowed to bypass

@Albatros-v6b No, the damaging part of Shadow Force factors in Wonder Guard properly, what you're suggesting would require the game to allow a Power Herb Solarbeam to be able to hit Shedinja (because the 1st turn ignores Wonder Guard). Shadow Force is actually the reverse of things though, both turns of Shadow Force factor in Wonderguard because the part of the code that was supposed to allow the 1st turn bypass wonder guard got assigned to Fire Fang instead due to a typo. This was never noticed because since both Fire Fang and Shadow Force are super-effective against Shedinja, both moves worked correctly.

I also remember hearing that it was as a failsafe because if you hack in a wonder guard spiritomb then go to the battle facilities, the ai will actually bring more and more Pokemon with fire fang to counter it, credit to blueboyphin for the fact. It negates almost everything that isn't a direct attack or self-ko moves. Weirdly, it works for mind blown and steel beam's self damage and the crash damage from high jump kick missing, but not belly drum or the user's end of ghost curse (still blocks damage from the opponent using ghost curse). Abilities, items, statuses, damage-over-time moves (leech seed, wrap), recoil, weather, and entry hazards are all blocked. Magic guard is genuinely one of the best abilities in the game. I do not know why people didn't put it instead of rock head on the recoil move pokemon, it is strictly better.

I do believe i gave him other moves, but odds are, i wasn't certain on what was possible and left abilities up to the person curating the pokemon, ei probably alpharad.
