Rhapsody of the Seas Ship Tour

This ship tour brings back memories. We were on the sister ship Splendour OTS in 2013 out of Venice. It’s since been sold but we loved the size of the ship with a port intensive itinerary. We like the smaller ships which is why we like Celebrity a little more than RCI. We were back on an Oasis class late last year (Symphony) and it just reinforced our dislike for the larger ships. After 36 years of cruising, we have found the better crew on the smaller ships. Thanks for taking us along.

Hey guys ! You crazy kids are so much fun . Always give me some laughs . Yes that ship is a tad small compared to the newer behemoths. I remember back around 1989 I went on Carnivals original Mardi Gras which was only like 40 thousand tons. The shower was a drain in the floor with a curtain lol . These days I like them a bit bigger . I love Celebrity and then Royal . Can’t wait to see the rest of the trip . Good work as always 😎😎😎

Is the food good in the main dining hall? Can you feel all the waves in the smaller ship?

There is definitely some hits and misses for food just like any place you might go to. The good thing is that if it’s not good you can get something else. We did feel waves on this size ship a bit more than the newer ones. Staff told us it’s because the new ships have better stabilizing technology even though they are bigger and in theory should sway more

Excelente video, gracias. Solo he tenido la experiencia de estar en el Harmony de la clase Oasis, sin duda el movimiento fue mínimo al navegar. Proximamente valoramos hacerlo en este barco saliendo desde Panamá. Queria consultar, en realidad el movimiento sera diferente de un barco a otro? es posible que el Rhapsody por ser un barco mas pequeño siempre se mueva feo? O no es asi todo el tiempo. Gracias.

Thank you very much - we have noticed that with any size ship you will notice some movement, but we have not had a lot of issues on the small ships more than the large ones. Alaska we did have a lot of movement but in the Caribbean we have never felt too much. Hope that helps!

I was on Rhapsody of Seas back in 2004....14 day Panama Canal. She was 7 yrs old at the time. Grandeur of the Seas is the smallest RC ships in tonnage, 74,000 tons and is also the oldest.. Rhapsody of the Seas is 78,500 tons.

I think I read that Rhapsody is smallest by number of passengers aboard so slightly larger but less people. Either way small by RC standards, thanks so much for sharing

Hey Josh and Rachel. I was wondering, like many casinos in LV, is smoking allowed on cruise ships? I noticed the casino is not open upon boarding, so I think not. Thanks

Hey Russ, the casinos have had smoking and nonsmoking sections in them on all of the cruises we had been on so if you are a smoked you will definitely be ok

Agreed food was disappointing in the MDR and buffet but loved the itinerary more than any other Caribbean cruise. We actually did the Chefs Table for the first time since we needed something higher. It’s in our Grenada video if you want to see how that was

Probably a little bit of the weather since it was hit or miss for rocky nights. We did feel the ship rocking a few times on higher floors as well later in the trip. Thanks for watching!

Yea the sunburn was pretty rough for a couple days, but settled nicely. It’s about $440 for the dining package, since we had a port day every day we figured we wouldn’t feel like having long dinners every night and save that money

They are in the front of the ship. This is why they have portholes instead of a huge window. Midship would be a better cabin for just a little extra. Cabin numbers decrease going forward.

FYI word on the street. RCI is cracking down on drinks in the casino bar. The policy has always been that one must be actively playing in order to get drinks. Due to abuse, word is they’re going back to that. We’re back on RCI next week so I plan to find out. Sister line Celebrity has the same policy and you cannot get free drinks at the bar. You must be sitting at the machine or table. This was two weeks ago when we were back on Celebrity.

We are fans of the larger ships. They are more stable in rough seas, offer so much more to do, things to see, better level of entertainment, etc. Imagine a chain of stores hiring people and placing them in the lower volume locations first to give them experience before “promoting them” to a better, larger store. Just my attempt at an analogy.😊 The bigger and newer the ship, the better the staff. It trickles down in every aspect of the cruise, but cost is so much higher.

Makes total sense - we really noted that staffing analogy to our entertainment options. We will be on Small ships for 3 of our 4 cruises this year so we will be totally ready for Icon of the Seas next January!

That was the most boring ship I have ever been on. I was never able to get on a casino game because it gets filled real fast and it is tight.

Definitely not as exciting as the larger ships. We picked this 100% because we have zero sea days and it was totally worth it
