Yes but I got a bit concerned with the description; "Multiple zones of drip and overhead irrigation with timers." I think he may need to visit a doctor :-)

Loved your response to “ how long do you run, how much water” I agree completely. It is the MBWA Management by walking around. I find the less time I spend in the garden, the worse it is. You just feel it when you live it.

For anyone in the UK/EU. In the UK we have a clone of that hose system at a premium price called Hoselock and at £130 it's $h!*. It almost never coils back up and the connections on the end leak with or without attachments affixed.

Once you started talking about dragging garden hose around the garden I busted out laughing. I demolished 25ft of pepper plants this year doing that and said never again am I bringing this hose into my market style beds.

The other important thing he does, but did t mention here, is the vertical pipe at the start of the bed that acts as an anchor to run the hose against, and in a straight line. He shows this in some other video.

I dug up my millennial-sized garden and buried a drip irrigation system on-top of 4mm poly (under 18" of dirt). Then laid down landscape fabric and back-filled with the soil. I top-water for a few weeks after transplant, and then bottom-water my garden for the rest of the season 🏡. I used coco in the back filling process and it's teaming with worms (and I get frost up to 6' deep... So I have no idea how the worms survive or get in there)

😵 What would your momma think, Joshua? 😏 That misting feature is fabulous! When I get overheated outside, I give myself a “daisy spritzer”, otherwise known as a good dousing with the hose. Another great and informative vid. The farm is jammin’! Blessings...daisy

All right Josh, so then, how _do_ you currently like to water? Does each bed get a daily dose of water? About how long per session? Do you split the watering with pauses to allow for better soaking? (eg 10 minutes on, 5 minutes off, repeated four times vs. a straight 40 minutes) Have you played with the Vegetronix moisture meter? Kinda nice to get a number to confirm hand inspection and estimation. Or a moisture probe, to go deeper. For my soil, a sandy loam that sheds surface water like a waterproof shield, I run 1/4” dripper line @ 6” spacing every other day for 12m on, 3m off times 4. I got there by making judgement calls like you suggest, but sure would like to dial it in more. I’m in a hot and dry 6b with 30 degree temp drops at night. Thank you for all the awesome, inspiring videos.

In the past you've done headers at both ends of the drip irrigation to prevent debris from occluding a whole line. It looks like in this setup you didn't do that. Was that technique just a waste of time and money you think? Better to just have one header and terminate at the end of the drip tape? Are there particular scenarios that you would go back to the double header system? Appreciate you brother.
@JoshSattinFarming3 жыл бұрын
I have found that the double header system was unnecessary. It also created a few headaches because the drip lines all had to be exactly the same length. This setup now seems to be working well and is easier to manage. I am very careful about not getting soil in the drip tape and blowing out the valves with water before reconnecting the tape.

What size is your well pump? We just ordered a 10 gpm gould pump and im wondering if I should have gotten the step up. Water availability is really no issue and are farming just under 1/3 of an acre.
@JoshSattinFarming3 жыл бұрын
I don't remember the actual specs. I am not an expert on this stuff at all, but the company installing it told me that the usually the pump is matched to the water availability of the well. So always put in the biggest pump you can based on how much water your well produces.
