Imported Durian sucks since it's typically been "frozen" and spent a long time in transit. The best Durian is one that basically has just fallen off the tree(on its own not because it was picked or strong winds), and even at its best, its still a hit or miss with most people.

i agree. I've never had a good frozen durian even if it was premium. but when i went overseas to Vietnam getting it from the market hits! its so sweet and custard-y not as smelly too.

durian is best when it's ripe and if you can't take the smell I suggest buying the durian candy, it's not smelly and no texture issue too it's not that sweet too 😂❤

Durian is better off fresh, but still only works for people with acquired taste buds for the fruit and the texture. The more intense the smell, the more sweet it is I think? But also I still think Durian smells sweet to my nose.

Durian is not for everyone. In the Philippines, durian here is very sweet and delicious. I love it so much that I can eat the whole thing.

You need to try the one that's not over-ripped yet. The one you had seems to be to ripped. What I like is when the outer layer of the pulp is still quite firm and the inside less gooey. The smell is not gonna be as intense too.

I love the smell of petrol and it's quite common because it activates the brain's reward system causing your brain to release dopamine which is why it can be addictive and aside from that it's dangerous to inhale for extended periods. A good whiff at the petrol station won't do any harm though :))
