Dude, the fills on this album are killer! And Lombardo was busting this shit out in 1988! Way ahead of his time. Although I love Reign in Blood, I've always thought the drumming on this album was far more dynamic and technical. Much more groove orientated. R.I.B had the raw speed/aggression. South, yet slowed down a bit, had the blistering technique and tempo changes and is maybe the most impressive drum work out of any Slayer album. Seasons is up there too.

People have no idea just how much this album changed me as a kid. I found a SOH cassette laying in the middle of the road day after a snow storm!😮 The streets were pure ice and weren't melted at all. The cassette was pristine. My guess is someone bought a slayer album for the first time, hate it then threw it out the window. The rest of the story is even better. I made out with Dawn Kappler for hours (dry humping and all) to SOUTH OF HEAVEN!! I was forever changed into a Metal Head FOR LIFE 🤘☠️🤘
