this is such a great video... i'm a writer trying to figure out how to handle an amputee character in fight scenes and stuff, she's missing her right leg, and your videos are SO freaking useful. this channel is the holy grail of writing resources for me right now. good for you, thank you for sharing your sick moves with the world
@DivineSteel5 жыл бұрын
Literally the exact same thing here. Plus Josh Sundquist is just a badass on top of it. Still, I kind of wonder if that technique would work as well for a female amputee just because of the difference in upper body strength. Ever found anything else on the topic?

Omg… as a runner currently on crutches due to a femur fracture - and who is eternally grateful for your encouragement to scrap the underarm crutches for the SO much better forearm - I am super psyched to give this a go😁

Hey Josh. I am 68 years old and just had my lower left leg amputated in November. Have a prosthetic leg but taking time for it to be comfortable so using elbow crutches right now. Just entered a community 5 k race to raise money for the hospital where I received my life saving treatment. Got two months to train. Don't think I will run as fast as you but great to see your example. Keep up the inspirational work.

hahaha i remember when you did that at national convention, i was freaking out because you were going so fast! you're hilarious haha :)
@Gaorusan Жыл бұрын
I broke my leg twice when I was young, and I used this skill too. If you practice a little bit, you'll be as fast as a jogger. It's most important to feel the crutches as an axis and rotate the whole body from side to side.

You must have amazing upper arm strength! I’m on crutches temporarily due to a ligament tear behind my knee and it’s exhausting
@Mel-pb5xw2 жыл бұрын
Right?! I’m a runner with a femur (“hip”) fracture, & crutches have me more exhausted than running 13 miles!

I'm going to end up not just breaking my already sprained ankle trying that but also break all the bones in my body. O.O :( I really wanna run.
@peter4210 Жыл бұрын
I know this is old but, if you have a stilt leg extension, you could probably actually gallop and go much much faster, probably faster then a 2 legged human.
@melikidis.i2 жыл бұрын
But it seems much easier to you because you have no leg (unfortunately), because people like me whose foot is broken are in danger of it hitting the ground, resulting in much pain
@katyacheckina26774 жыл бұрын
Dude, you're so amazing. Looking at you walk on crutches, it looks like you're just walking like a two-legged person. Also, I don't use crutches, but I really admire the videos you make.

You look so beast with those crutches. Like, I was expecting you to suddenly do like a spin or weird crutch-related break dance. Even though you didn't, I just realized how awesome that would be. (Crutch-related break dancing, I mean.)

I should really learn to do this, I don't think I'd use it much normally but it would be nice not having to think about what would happen in a situation where I need to run for my well being or life. I don't think I could out-jump a stalker or fire..

This is really important for my OC who uses forearm crutches from a spinal cord injury and is also gonna be in a grimdark/horror book. If I hadn’t saw this video he’d be very dead.

WoW i'm also above the knee amputation, i found it too hard to use the artificial leg, i have only used the folding frame, to put the wheel chair in the wagon, and use the frame to get to the drivers seat. I guess you are not in Australia ?? i'm in Tasmania, Australia. I wish i had seen your video, in 2016 when i lost my leg, i reckon you can only learn from some-one who has the same disability, not these young people, who come out of university. I have ordered a pair of forarm crutches, on ebay, should have them, in a couple of weeks, i'm 62 now, and in Australia, a disability like mine, you can't get a pension, which is crazy, you have to look for work. Thanks Josh, for the great video, and your incredible, hopefuly it will help me. Thank-You .

@estelgreenleaf nice! and well, I have a friend who is ALWAYS underestimating me. She's competitive so that only makes matters worse. "I'm stronger than you", "I'm faster than you", "You have one leg. You can't even do [insert ability]" (sadly, her mom is just as bad with this) and it pisses me off. I have this disease called "Passive Aggressiveness" so I always let things that she says, go and I look over them which = bad for me because it just makes me want to ditch her as a bff. (continued)

@bitchslapper12 what ?! do you think that? this man is showing people how to run on crutches. I crushed my leg in a motorcycle accident but the doctors were able to save my leg but my knee is fucked up. I will never be able to run again until I saw this. So show a bit of respect
@HimeGirl1513 жыл бұрын
@estelgreenleaf (continued) She's a great friend overall, it's just those few things that she does that gets to me. I guess I could blame myself though. I never tell her or her mom how I feel about their underestimations about me, so how would they know, right?
@estelgreenleaf13 жыл бұрын
@HimeGirl15 Hey, it's cool. People tend to open up to me automatically. Not sure why. But yeah, no one ever thinks I can play any sports, or do anything for myself. It's like, "seriously, I'm fine. Let me do my thing!"
@RyNsWoRLD13 жыл бұрын
broke my foot once, fell over a lot. crutches are hard :( not just that, but its like 20x faster than i can run, next thing i know there will be a guy with no hands that can juggle better than me, no offense lol

Well now the NEXT challenge for you Josh is a marathon surely :) See an Italian crutched the Chicago Marathon in 4 hours 40 minutes or something I think ... How about you giving it a whirl? Ivor (England)
@TheTwiggiiness14 жыл бұрын
You, with one leg, run like three times as fast as most people. If I tried that I probably would end up breaking my appendages and ribs and various other structures, which does not sound like a good time.

@estelgreenleaf Yea i always do the skip run thingy. Which gets me some what far, but not where i want to be. I want to perfect THIS! I'm kinda sick of people underestimating me...

I've always done the skip run way of walking with my forearm crutches (even though my therapists never liked it until my orthopedic doctor finally after years of the therapists complaining about it, ) he said that how I was walking was fine with him and then they stopped complaining .
