The first step to built passive income is to have income set aside. So for the young people out there, you have the luxury of youth and time ahead. Do not YOLO too much. Managing your lifestyle in accordance to your hopefully growing income ensures a good base or buffer which can be adjusted as you age. But if you have no buffer, you will hv no ability to adjust.

can you comment if/how T-bills would complement this SSB bond ladder strategy? thanks

Use of T-bills in sg is overrated. My opinion only. There is reinvestment risk once it matures. Not worth the effort to get a solution that matures so quickly

Bond fund and Income fund are technically not the same thing. Bond fund by its name contains fixed income securities only, whereas income fund can contain variety of instruments . The risk factors are quite different for bond fund and income fund though they try to achieve the same objective of providing stable income.

Agree with feedback. On hindsight I'd be more accurate mentioning income fund. There are few if not no monthly payout pure bond funds

For other government bonds that don't have the 200K limit, what would you suggest to stack on top of ssb ladder? Particularly for folks looking to retire in 10-12Y aiming for 1000/mo fixed income?

I am a landlord of 2 rented out properties (fully paid) and a working adult too. You are spot right that the main bulk of the rental goes to property taxes, income taxes, maintenance, commission. Though I like the capital appreciation of the properties, I also thought if it is wrong for me to keep them. Perhaps it is better for me to sell them and put them into ETFs, Stocks, T bills etc to generate altenative passive income. What do you think?

Hi again Josh, i read that the interest will be payout every 6mths, so it will auto credit the interest earned into ur Bank acct or SRS acct when its 6mths is up? OR It will 1 lump sum payout the total interests earned when u want to redeem (surrender) the SSB or when u hold until Maturity?
@user-pb9vs1ms6p
@user-pb9vs1ms6p 4 ай бұрын
Don't be too fixated in getting that constant $400 payout/mth. It will not be possible due to unpredictable allotments. Should only buy SSB when the rates are better, and not 24 months in a row. Meaning, you would probably get fluctuating monthly coupons payout. Just do manage your own spending on this passive income.
