Me and my wife transferred 100k each into our SA and took a HDB loan for 14years for the balance at 35yo. In hindsight, not bad for the additional peace of mind that my retirement base is more or less covered. Shall try balloting for 2nd BTO upon MOP, and sell existing after keys collection if I strike this quarterly 5% lottery. Why not try your luck with your 2nd BTO chance if you’re a Singaporean?

Alarm noise I think is a pain but frankly, it’ll radiate even if you’re 20 floors above. Other than view and possibly air flow, the issues are identical to low flow unit but that’s priced in, in general.

The gap is too narrow between carpark and low floor units facing it, especially in very old HDB. Most newer HDB may not have such issues.

Those that have tall trees in front may also run the risk of happy bird family settling on the tree. Especially those endangered breed. Super on alarm clock.
