The reason it sounds like he strains his voice is bc he likes to push himself to expand his voice and challenge himself (which isn’t always the best thing but it’s just the way he is💀). He explained it on one of his lives so that’s the reason.

it's sad cuz this song for him is so emotional that he became so choked up towards the end that he almost couldn't finish all because of these girls falsely accused him of sexual assault which he denied but no one would listen so he used his art to get his truth and point across and soon the girls came up and confessed that they lied

the pain in his voice tho🥺

I think the “strain” is rather a stylistic choice with vowel placement. Think nick jonas

Your comment about Joshua looking like he's in pain is how I feel about Nick Jonas singing sometimes.

I didn't really think the verses are too high for him or anything imo. It is considerably lower than LLL and I thought his singing was him doing belts. During the bridge he sounds similar in the verse but I'm not a vocal coach professional just a huge fan of the song. He does sound a bit more relaxed towards the end so maybe it is a artistic choice for him to sing like that. I'm looking forward to his EP to see how he will sing on that. He sounds great on his ig lives

I don't think it's too high, I think he purposefully put it in the middle of where his voice changes to add the strain because fits with the mood of the song. I think it's absolutely beautiful

he actually sang this live again on the Joshua Bassett live show, and he wasn't straining there, so maybe he had less breathe control on this day

I like his older songs or his Instagram(-live) version's a lot more because he isn't trying to go so high with his voice it makes me uncomfortable and I when I love songs I wanna listen to them on repeat but at his high songs I get a headache and can't listen to it for long

I don’t agree with this take when you look at his other music...he isn’t straining it’s a style choice

Check out the vocal coach hannah bayles she does a reaction to this song she's very funny and gives a lot of detail even tho I have no idea what she talks about because I'm not a vocal coach and have no idea about vocal cords and stuff

Song is definitely 6/8 not 3/4
@r3medyproductions3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I mean it really could go either way since in the song he uses a waltz kind of feeling in the piano for a good bit but since he held over vocally for some of the measures plus the triplet feel, I definitely hear more 6/8 but I guess 3/4 isn't wrong either tho since it can be like the same thing depending on how the 3/4 feels. Idk lol but yeah I agree
