Some of them are literally out here invalidating his sexual assault, saying he deserved it because what, he moved on so quickly after their break up? That is appalling. @@alles2339 Well, since you're Christian, I feel like we can have a decent conversation about this. As a Christian, I too know that God is love. But I also know that he is a righteous judge. In Christianity to love someone is to, not only treat them respect and kindness, but also to tell them the truth according to the Bible. Shaming someone for something they can't help is wrong, especially when that person isn't even Christian. I think that it's all about how and when you deliver your message that makes a difference. I will say that shaming someone for what they can't help is wrong especially when that person is a brother/sister in Christ. Rather than shaming them, IF THEY WANT IT, you should help them move away from that attraction. ONLY IF THEY WANT IT. If not, the only thing you can do is love on them. As for the Christian community being toxic, it's not true. Every belief system has some bad apples and, while some beliefs systems are just plain evil, most of them tend to have a good message especially Christianity which is that God loved us so much that he died for us. Most Christians are amazing people. I've experienced both bad and good and I can tell you that the number of good outweighs the bad. I still don't know what Christian theatre is.....

Very proud of you for sharing your story! I relate as well, my story is quite similar to yours. From what I remember, it was a one time thing. And, because I was so young, I completely blocked it from my memory. Despite not remembering, it has impacted my whole entire life. I have struggled with self esteem issues, because the assault made me perceive my body as disgusting. I have struggled to maintain healthy relationships, because I had trouble differentiating between “romantic” and platonic relationships and could not believe someone would want to be around me simply to be around me rather than yk abuse me. It wasn’t until this year actually after a severe trauma that I began to remember some pieces of the assault. I’ve only, thus far, been able to open up about my assault with my therapist but I definitely agree with the sentiment. So long as it’s somebody you trust, talking about it is definitely healing. I cannot comprehend the added challenges that must come with being a male victim. I have seen how immensely stigmatized it is within media, but as a female I cannot say I know exactly what you’re going through. I just would like to heavily emphasize YOU have immense strength and courage!! And again I’m so proud of you for sharing your story. I hear you, and I hope you continue to heal.

Not only did this interview give me hope for a better life for myself, and better friendships- it also gave me so much love and empathy for my younger self who went through so much. Joshua Bassett, thank you endlessly for saying all you did. I can't imagine I'll ever meet you, but thank you for what you've given me with this video.

The fact that this man went through EVERYTHING bad; bullied, exploitation, grew up in toxic enviroment, sexually abused at very young age, mentally abused too.. He was at the hospital with 30% chance of survival, but he'd still get the most tremendous amount of hate, because of a SONG - People perverted the reality, because they were too obsessed to face him with humilty - & even tho he was going through all of this, he'd still care more about others rather than himself! He's so well eloquent, mature for his age..his responses and bravery tells everything. Seriously, my faith in this generation slowly is getting doomed bcs of the way he's been treated, but at the same time I choose to keep up & look up more to such inspiration people like him, just to remind my self that maybe there's still a chance for this world to be a better place because of people like him. ♡

Hearing Joshua talk about his hospital experience... the power of our mind... the law of attraction and the way we speak about things really hit me in the gut because this was all along the lines of what I am experiencing myself. There's something interesting about being a human being and experiencing something terrible- we think it's only us that thinks a certain way about a load of things. But everything he has said in this video is exactly how I feel and I am surprised by that. I never thought I would hear someone else say exactly what I was thinking. I am grateful to have listened to this and can't believe he put it into words. You're really smart Joshua and I am so sorry for what you have been through. I have been through that feeling of betrayal, anxiety, health that just scares you shitless and makes you go for a whirlwind. Thank you for this. You don't know how much hope you gave me.

Hearing him talk about his childhood trauma with a family member and being homeschooled in a Christian family was like looking in a mirror. I wish I could have a conversation with Joshua about this stuff that I've not shared with many people. This really made me feel seen and understood. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us Joshua. So much love to you 🤗❣️

He is a such a genuine, emotionally intelligent, compassionate, passionate, STRONG person. I can't imagine what he's been through but his message about self love, self worth, spreading love no matter what. Its so unfair what he went through as a child (i can relate as i am a survivor). his sharing his process is really inspiring me to talk to my therapist about my experience. i love his perspective on trust, taking care if yourself mentally and spiritually, seeing the good in people, and people that spread pain when they're in pain. i love olivia, her music has helped me so much and while her feelings are valid, HIS feelings are also so so valid. he is such an incredible human. this has helped me with my perspective on how i should start thinking. thank you for this interview. i love you joshua

Joshua is so fucking strong. It's been said a bilion times already, and it will never stop needing to be said, because, once again, he's so fucking strong. Seeing him tear up at the coffee shop mention was disheartening. I mean, it's not even the worst thing that has happened to him this year. One might think, "oh, one coffee shop is being shady, so what." but even such a little thing can obviously do a lot of harm. I have so much respect to Joshua for this interview, and sending him all the love. I will never stop gushing about him.

Well Joshua, happy 21st Birthday. You’re a great person to refer to for people with crises of their own and many of your songs help me as an aspiring educator, and as a man with highly sensitive temperament in my mission help kids and teens with their lives. And Zach, in Child and Teen Development, there’s a quote similar to “Why must I hurt for you to feel okay?” “Where did we ever get the crazy idea that in order to make children do better , first we have to make them feel worse.” -Jane Nelsen, Ed. D. Words alone cannot express my gratitude for this interview.

For years my mind has been pushing back the fact that when I was about four years old I was sexually abused. They day this interview came out I watched it at 3 in the morning and it completely changed my life. Hearing Joshua talk about his experience made me realize what had happened to me and ever since then i have been healing a part of me that was locked in the deepest part of my brain. It feels weird saying that a video has changed my life but I genuinely believe that this video has. I am so moved by how emotionally intelligent Joshua is and I am working to achieve that level of intelligence and vulnerability.

I’m not sure if anyone will see this comment but I just had to put these thoughts somewhere. Honestly, I’m so proud of Josh. He’s so strong. Strong for being open about his feelings and strong for speaking out. This podcast made me feel so much. As a Josh supporter for maybe 2 years now it’s- you don’t even realize how much he went through before he became this “Big” “Well known” person and this last year has really been hell for him. I hate, I am disgusted by the way countless of people treated him and still treat him. They degrade him constantly say after day and I hate that. Saying things like “He should have died” or “He deserves that.” Like how horrible of a person do you have to be to say such vile things about someone who quite frankly you don’t even know!!?? How?! I started to tear up hearing him start opening about the SA and Abuse he went through. How is it that humans can treat other humans so poorly and with such cruelty? I can’t comprehend that. It’s disgusting. Josh would hate fans spreading rude messages on behalf and that shows just how grown up he’s become. So proud, I’m just so proud of him. You’ve got it Josh, we’re still here for you❤️

This interview was so incredible and inspiring to watch and listen to. The way both Zach and Joshua carry themselves is so commendable. Both speak with such empathy, respect, and understanding for each other and the world. Zach is so respectful, caring, and validating in the way he asks questions and responds and is such an amazing person. Joshua has so much wisdom and life experience, more than any 21 year old should have, and he is so genuine and caring towards everyone and everything and gives respect to everyone, more than people deserve, and he is so inspiring. Thank you both for your honesty and candor and for being your true amazing selves. So much love

I love this show because Zach lets people be themselves and just completely authentic. He asks a question and sits back and just let his guest talk without interrupting them and letting them go as deep as they want. He doesn’t cross lines or push boundaries. He respects people and treats everyone with understanding and compassion. It is truly refreshing and incredible because it removes the celebrity title and reminds people their is a human behind that tittle ❤️

He doesn’t deserve any of this hate he is spreading positive vibes around the world and being who he wants to be. No one should be telling him what he has to do and stuff like that it is up to him it is his life and his feelings. He is an amazing human being and I don’t care what anyone says that’s what I think and will continue thinking. He was so right when he was saying when men get sexually assaulted it is no different to when women do. We should be treated equally just cause there men doesn’t mean anything. When he was talking about having rubbish friends in high school I was like that is literally what I went through I thought I had no friends and I have around 3 friends all together and I’m just hoping they stay, but he is not alone. Love you josh forever and always ❤️🔥🌈

i usually pride myself on being someone who can empathize with everybody but I think I have lately fallen into the category of people who forget that the people we talk about on the internet are real humans. I was never one of those people shit talking joshua but i definitely internalized everything people were saying about him and that formed an image of him in my head that was just completely based around what millions of people on the internet were saying. I'm ashamed of that and this was a good wake up call for me. Thank you joshua for being strong enough to be open and genuine. Your story and you love doesn't go unheard and unnoticed. much love

1. I love the way that this interview felt like a big hug that was both for Josh & Zach as well as for us as the audience. 2. Zach always has the best interviews. You can tell that he really listens to their music; rather than asking blanket questions, he dives into the lyrics of their songs, even the most insignificant-seeming lyrics. He read Josh’s GQ interview, etc. I love both of these humans (as much as you can love internet strangers).

“Yes there was lots of betrayal, which is ironic” 💀💀😂😂😂 In all honesty, he is such a pure soul. To always see the good in people after the year he’s had, to forgive rather than seek revenge, shows how truly mature he is in such a superficial, self serving industry. To say no to the drama, when he could have defended his image/profited really shows his true character. I like both artists but really admire his maturity. Those comments saying terrible things about him clearly do not know him one bit/haven’t watched a single interview with him because you cannot deny how genuinely good this person is.
