This is the best Waits cover i've ever heard, mindblowing..

He has to be the most charismatic singer I've seen so far in a Occidental Saloon video, or any indie video, I guess. He played those bells perfectly. And the guitar player looked like, what am I doing here?! But he just went along and played. I also really like that bedroom. I wish my bedroom looked as interesting as that.

Wow, that's a terrific cover. Tom Waits would approve I think. The guitar work is perfect. This is very spare and perfect.

Lay you head Where my heart used to be Hold the earth above me Lay down on the green grass And remember when you loved me Now come closer don't be shy Stand beneath a rainy sky 'Cause the moon, it is over the rise Picture me as a train rolls by Clear the thistles and brambles Oh whistle didn't he ramble Now there, there is a bubble of me And its floating in thee Blue Sky in the shade of me Things are now made of me The weather vane will say Oh, it smells like rain today Ah 'cause God he took the stars and he tossed 'em And I cannot tell the birds from the blossoms Oh you shall never ever be free of me 'Cause he will make a tree outta me Don't you say good bye to me please describe the beautiful sky to me And when the sky falls down You mark my words, we will all catch mocking birds Lay you head Where my heart used to be Hold the earth above me Lay down on the green grass And remember when you loved me

I know what it feels like to cover/put your own touch on this hauntingly longing song. Your touch is beautiful to me! Thank you so much for this! Me, I expressed it on just my piano and me. I'm so thankful to hear other's expressions of a song I love so much. Thanks a ba-zillion!

@bufalonungotu Don't even be like that this cover is great! You don't have to sing it like the original! There is no rules to how you can cover a song and I think this guy absolutely nailed it! Really made it their own, the guitar/tone was great, the vocals were great and the emotion was believable and those bells put such a nice touch to it as well. Take your hateful comments somewhere else and do something constructive with your time. Josh this was amazing thank you.

@SeemoreDunkan9 жыл бұрын
+Joel Haven't checked but I'm pretty sure it's some sort of a Harmonica microphone that he just uses for vocals. some people do that and it's pretty cool at times

No, no, no!!! The whole point of green grass by Tom is subtlety, resignation (making peace with fate), simplicity made powerful by its humbleness. A sweet whisper from the depths of the soul, the certainty of a life/love lived to the fullest, to the last drop. You don't listen to it, you breath it. But this cover here, it's Mexican melodrama, preaching, imposing theatrics, the passion of Christ on steroids if you like. Pity, such a beautiful voice, yet such a waste!
