I personally feel that unchained just needs a couple hits and it comes back down from being the best deck. If it loses high wave king and maybe knightmare gryphon it doesn't feel like as much of a slog to play against. Oh yeah and tour guide is probably going to one(again).

I think the biggest difference between current Yu-Gi-Oh and a potential rotation system is that right now we get to go back and choose what old card we can use to adapt to the current meta, even if konami reprints old staples it's not the same, they're choosing what staples and techs we get to play. Frankly that sounds extremely boring to me.

I agree, a Rotation format would make it easier for new players to get into YGO or as an alternative for peeps who can't memorize 10k+ cards, but if it was the only format I'd would quit. For me there's nothing more satisfying than playing old staples or using combos with new+old cards (e.g. Samsara Lotus+Bomber Dragon), many say Dark Hole sucks but it's a banger in Sky Striker and has won me many games

@@defectivesickle5643 Edison will never change, no new cards or banlist changes. A rotating format would constantly change with each set, adding new cards and rotating out the old ones. It can have its own banlist and tournamets, as long as they don't screw the current formats it's just gravy on top, the more options the better

Rotation doesnt stop companies from reprinting possible staples. Like Pokemon has staple cards that are in 1 rotation then removed for the next and replaced with something maybe a bit weaker but those cards always have a chance to come back. Like the supporter card bosses orders has like 6 or 8 different arts (every old iteration of the card is also legal because the name is never changed) so you still can get old cards back into the cycle if they fit what the company wants. So like bottomless trap hole or mirror force or book of moon can be reprinted into the set rotation depending on what removal or interaction is needed.

you realize that allure is powercrept when even Thunder Dragon Players drop it, sure you can banis your Thunder Dragon Roar or Thunder Dragon Dark, but as it turns out most of the time you can just trigger their hard once per turns anotherway and the deck is just so rediculusly tight that it´s hard to stay even remotely close to 40

i think its funny how players will cry for legacy format support but act like advanced format couldn't co-exist with a rotating format side-by-side. One of the things this game desparately needs is good support for more of its formats (which then allows for more formats to come along). WE NEED INCLUSIVITY

First: it’s Konami we don’t trust them to support 2 formats let alone well Second: sure you get a bit of support for a couple archetypes unfortunately you play tindangle or something and they never bother to reprint it and bring it into stagers because it’s not a big money anime deck that they can slap on the box and you can’t play your deck in standard and your local reduced the advanced format schedule you can play it in

Deal with unchained? If they touch unchained at all, at most ban Caesar or gryphon and leave the unchained names alone. The engines good but it's not strong enough to warrant unchained name hits.

Okay, but just bringing back staples isn’t going to give us crazy interactions like the Marionette Mite into Unchained. Do you honestly think for a second the card that would get reprinted would be Marionette Mite?

To be fair Marionette Mite wouldnt need to get reprinted. Another card could be printed with the exact same or a similar effect.

That's the thing though, if youre in a rotated format and Fiend decks are at the top of the dogpile, it isn't uncommon at all to look for targeted hate throughout the card pool to reprint into Standard in order to combat said Fiend decks. I could totally see a world where, in response to a massive surge of Fiend decks dominating, you reprint Marionette Mite specifically. That's the good thing about rotation, you can just whitelist all the cards you wanna keep through reprinting and it doesn't ruin the meta half the time. When you're having to blacklist through a curated ban system, you normally have to wait for it to negatively impact the game, annoy players, etc and then you're able to excise it.

A decent Magic example is them following up blocks with artifact synergies for example with an Abrade reprint. Or following a GY themed block up a bit later with a reprint of Tormod's Crypt or something.

You guys have to remember, in a theoretical official rotated format, its not a nebulous "we" making the decision on which cards will be rotated out or not, its Konami. So ask yourself, do you really think Konami would care about keeping Marionette Mite?

It’s not surprising why people are up in arms against Unchained right now - It was already the best TCG deck BEFORE Ariseheart got banned and this only just makes the deck that much better since there is now one less major MU to worry about - It shouldn’t matter if it’s 2 weeks old, 2 months old, a mid range deck (This is a weird complaint because Lab is a midrange deck and people cry about the cards used in that deck all the time), or explosive deck. Blatantly Strong #1 decks in a format don’t just disappear over time unless another banlist happens or new cards drop that boost other decks enough to challenge it. So that is my nitpick towards the nitpick.

Uh…rotation isn’t rocket science. Several other cards games currently apply it. Weird to say random blanket “you just don’t understand it” as if rotation is some lost mystic art. By that logic then anti-rotation people “don’t understand rotation” too.

Just because other card games work with rotation, doesn't mean it will work with yugioh. Other games have a resource system, and that would be horrible in yugioh.
