I loaned Randy Levitt my spanking new Fires to climb Equinox. Mid 80s. What a beautiful finger crack. We only had stoppers and clumsy friends at the time, so placing gear wasn't so easy.

Great memories Brian. It would have been a tough lead before thin cams. I’ve watched the video of Tony Yaniro leading it on nuts (and wearing EBs) many times. Jerry Moffatt’s onsight, in 1983 with similar gear and shoes, really blows me away. I reached out to Jerry after redpointing Equinox and was thrilled to chat with him a bit. He was truly gracious. The climbers, and climbs, of that generation continue to inspire.
