Exploring old mining sites in the Joshua Tree Wilderness and Pinto Mountains. We traveled south to north along the Old Dale Road and Gold Crown Road. We visited the Sunrise Mill Site, Mission Mine, Sunset Mine, the Supply Mine and a couple of other unnamed sites.

You are a great videographer, great stills throughout. Were you on BLM land when you camped, or were you in JT park proper? I was interested about your campfire, did you get a permit for that or is it simply allowed if in a contained firebox like you were using?
@advfamily
@advfamily 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Where we camped was on BLM land. You can download the fire permit online. You just have to watch a video and take a quiz. We use the portable Pop Up Fire Pit which is BLM approve.

Great video. Thank you for the upload. Did you gentleman start off Hwy 62 and go south,or of Hwy 10 and go north?
@advfamily
@advfamily 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Shawn, thanks for the positive feedback. We went north from the 10 to the 62 but either way will work just as well.

Cool trip. I've never seen a spare tire used under a tow strap before-what was the reasoning behind that?
@rguil15
@rguil15 2 жыл бұрын
They were basically using it to direct some of the force up (in the vertical direction) as the top of the tire was higher than the anchor point, probably didn't make a *huge* difference here, but always good if you can direct the force in the direction you actually want to go.

Do you think a 2wd chevy colorado could have done this trail?
@advfamily
@advfamily 3 жыл бұрын
It certainly would be more of a challenge but as long as you have decent clearance you could probably do it. There was a 2 wheel drive 4 runner that made it.

You think I'd be able to take a dually there?
@advfamily
@advfamily 2 жыл бұрын
I think it would be pretty tight.

I went over that in a 4x4 Colorado two years ago and IIRC there were a few points just b fore you reached the high point north of the park boundary that would probably be too tight. I'd also be a little worried about sidewalls. I don't think we saw any full size pick-ups up there. I'm pretty sure you could get almost to the top from the north side with a dually. But from the park boundary to the top, really taking a chance.

Isn’t that a landing strip your camped on?
@advfamily
@advfamily 3 жыл бұрын
Not that I was aware of and it didn't show it was a landing strip on the map but based on how flat it was I guess it could be used for one... Scary!
