Ever since the Pan Am came out I wanted one, it looks unique and badass! My goal is to trade in my 2020 Street Bob and get a Road Glide and then eventually get a Pan America so I can get to those hard to get places I like to go once in awhile. But we’ll see what the future has in store, hopefully amazing things for me and for everyone else!

I agree Greg. I try to make it work in the winter. I layer up using my Alaska knowledge from my time in the Army. For my outer pants layer, I use my Husqvarna chainsaw pants. They work very well with cold and wind. For gloves, I use small knit style glove liners, then big bulky Arctic style pullovers. I can work the switches just fine. This is all done on a bike with no fairing, no close-outs, no windshield, and no handguards. Ultimately though, layering up just sucks and I can't wait for Spring riding to begin!! I love these adventure-styled big production videos, Matt!

Then I fear I would need to make a hard choice, can only have 1 horse in my stable.. Keep sharing content on this GREAT machine, maybe you will help me make my mind up for me….

Another great video! Good advice too about not having the PA (or any large adventure bike) as your first bike off-road. I have lots of road and street experience but none off-road. I'm looking at a Honda CB500X for my first off-road adventure bike and then giving it to my wife after a year (she doesn't ride but wants to learn how) and then purchasing a PA. First crawl, then walk, then run!

I've owned an R100GS on which I had a slow first gear front wheel slide out on wet clay solo. Took me a good 45 minutes to get the bike out of that one. I would always have off road biased tyres on a bike that size for extra grip. You get a lot of those gravel back roads here in Australia that are great to explore.

What I’m talking about. With more roads across this great country under construction and at any given moment you might need to “detour”, might be out of traffic down some area off the highway onto a frontage or side road, wherever. These bikes are built to handle. Durable to navigate rough terrain while being super smooth on the super slab. All while looking cool. Adventure bikes have long been the Swiss Army knife of motorcycles just getting more attention these days for their inherent versatility. Great job crew. Matt put some hair somewhere on that face. Corporate does allow it. Ride safe and ride often. Peace.

Instead, if you want overnighters, to camp out, I suggest the Mohave Preserve, North of I-40. Paved roads like Kelbaker Rd lead to easy side roads, and any level of riding you want to do, and many great campsites can be found near the top of mountains, etc.

Excellent. Another great video highlighting a great ride, and featuring H-D and the Laidlaw’s team. I’m going to make a predication that Nick sells his Pan America, gets a 2022 Low Rider touring, and maybe an off road bike like Jamie’s.

They’re cool, looks fun. I think you should take a yonder just a couple states over here in Massachusetts, maybe head out to the Berkshire’s (western MA), make your way through Vermont and New Hampshire. Cross country would be the nuts 🥜. I’d be interested on your take with that much saddle time.

Great video! Although I've been riding for years, I'm new to off-road adventure riding. I do a lot of long road trips so I've ordered the Panniers and Top Case. I was wondering how that held up when you fell? I couldn't see any damage to them at all!

The Panamerica is a great bike but I do not ride off road so I cannot really substantiate purchasing it. It seems to me that if you do not off road with it that defeats the purpose of getting one. Excellent vlog Matt. I look forward to more off road adventures with you and your crew.

Matt, did Nick's airbag jacket deploy when he went down? He made a comment about the jacket saving his shoulder but I wasn't sure if he was referring to the airbag or his armored jacket that he wears over top of it? I have the same Alpinestar Tech Air 5 and was curious. Thanks. Great video.
@MattLaidlaw
@MattLaidlaw 2 жыл бұрын
I believe he disabled his air bag when we got off road. So, no, it didn't go off. He kept the air bag on because I think it has armor on it that he was still able to benefit from even with the bag off.

Great video ! I wish we would have hit the road you guys hit when we were there. The one we were on, too much damn sad ! Once the weather clears you can do Holcomb Valley up at Big Bear. You can ride all day up there. There's also a road that will take you from Apple Valley up-and-over to Big Bear which is about a 23 mile treck also an excellent ride. If you're short on time you can always do Lytle Creek up-and-over or up and then back down. You'll want to take Sheep Canyon road. Ride on !

Matt , Thanks for another great video . Love the Pan . I believe it will be a welcomed addition to my bike collection . Question is , would you start out with the special or get the standard and load it up with accessories ? Not sure if the kneeling feature is that important to me , even with having short inseam .

If you’re going off road at all then I would do the special. If you’re on road only then I’d consider the standard if you want to save some money

By Indian standarts (I mean "in India" 🇮🇳) that "off-road" is closer to a highway. I think those guys would smash y'all on 300cc Bajaj's And R.Enfields wearing slip-ons. That being said I really love your travel series of videos and genuinely think that you're amazing CEO.

Death Valley is naturally the next place. Check my channel to see difficulty level on various motorcycles over the years. Titus Canyon, Racetrack, Hunter Mtn(not in winter), Saline Valley(not in winter), Westside Road, Greenwater Valley are all good roads for the big bikes. Get a Tom Harrison map, tons of things to see on the big bikes in that area. Rode my Buell all over the place down there, man it was a terrible dirt bike.

Very entertaining video, great scenery, great story. I really praise Harley Davidson for putting a bike in the market that competes with or even exceeds the competitions bike. In looks, performance and specifications. My choice for such trips though would not be a much too heavy 1000cc plus adventure bike of any brand. I'd like a much lighter more off road capable 1 or 2 cylinder 4 stroke bike. No panniers everything carried in an assistance vehicle. At the end of the day I would be tired from riding difficult but entertaining terrain, not from handling a heavy bike. The joy should not be from the excitement you managed to get there, but how you get there. Back in the day I road a new Yamaha XT600 Ténéré, 1 cylinder 600cc with a large fuel tank. Put on motocross tires. And rode it off road and street. The future of adventure riding should be a 1000-1200cc 1 or 2 cylinder very off road capable bike. 150bhp/150Nm, 200kg ready to go. All the camping gear carried by a drone that is linked to your bike. Today I am riding a 2019 Fat Boy (strictly on road).
