I think the greatest barrier to digital is the cost of not only the goggles but the quads themselves. The goggle prices are coming down but the premium (non-box) are still really expensive. Quads with digital air units are also a lot more. For tiny whoops they can double the price. For instance, the analog Meteor75 Pro from BetaFPV is $110 while the digital version is $220. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Premium analog goggles are just as expensive as digital ones
@Crucifer_ImmortaКүн бұрын
@@xXlURMOMlXx That's true but we didn't have budget digital until relatively recently while budget analog are readily available and have been for a long time. Analog air units are for the most part really inexpensive and so my point is that until there are either budget options for both goggles and air units OR the prices in general come down, digital will have a price barrier to entry.
@Crucifer_ImmortaКүн бұрын
@@xXlURMOMlXx I am currently analog only and it is because of the prices of digital, both goggles and air units. I did splurge on the SkyZone 04X Pro (Xmas discounts ftw and yes I know that the Walksnail Goggles X are priced a little lower) because I know I will use them regularly as a daily driver. I have 2 other pairs of budget goggles that now I will probably never use unless I need a backup. I don't want to to end up with similar circumstances with digital, especially because when you go digital you now have to pick an eco system (unless you have tons of money which I don't). I personally want to use the best equipment if I know I am going to be using it all of the time but right now for me it is just too expensive and I would like to see more compatibility between eco systems..

I feel like digital will never weight less, have lower latency, cost less, or be more nonexclusive than analog. Ever. Even if digital grows to overtake analog in marketshare, I feel like there will always be a reason to choose analog over digital for specific use-cases

I'll rock my dominator v3s until they die. And hopefully there will be a new better analog option by then. I don't want to make the switch. I hate manufacturers telling me what I can and can't use on my own shit. Analog is analog. If you have a VRX capable of picking up a 5.8ghz analog signal then you can fly. With digital you're locked into choosing either walksnail or DJI goggles and from that point on every quad you buy will have to be DJI or walksnail. Don't like the walksnail camera? Sucks to be you ig. You're stuck with whatever they decide you are worthy of having. I'll stick with my open ecosystem that lets me decide what I want to use

Digital watts and analog watts are not the same, with line of sight DJI and WS are plenty for long range. The biggest difference is just time to reconnect is much higher on digital fpv like WS or DJI, making analog preferable.

Range only matters for long distance, for everything else it's bounciness that matters (penetration). DJI is superior to how it can work with RF that bounce of objects. DJI can reassemble out of order packets, while analog just shows snow. And for long distance planes are better then quads anyways. And 03 is old. The penetration of the 04 system on my avata 2 and neo is twice as good as 03. I have been behind two buildings and inside the thirth at 150 meters and still have 1 mbit left on my avata 2, pretty insane. Analog can not do that, at all.

Question guys? Can analog get better?🤔
@glenmiller1437Күн бұрын
Technically, yes, in fact the very first HD system back in the 80s were analog. But things went digital for a lot of good reasons. It makes no sense to make better analog. It's about broadcast standards, bandwidth, etc. The reason analog FPV is cheap is because those technologies are pushing 100 years old so it's inexpensive to make.

As long as weight and power consumption is less on anslog, then its what i want. The manufacturers can of course try to make analog as shitty as possible to make people choise the more expensive things.. Why reinventing the wheel of its more money to make on it. Im sure they soon will forbid analog, as there is more money in other stuff.. They are already started to implement strange rules with no logic behind in Europe. Like there should be a operator standing beside you and have eye contact with the drone when you flying with fpv googles Its totally absurd. As its more safe to fly with then without fpv googles... And also if the googles can record foto, film or sound, then you need a driving license.. Luck to is who can take out the SD card and make it impossible to record something.. They are totally out of theire mind.. Europe is a zoo. And mobula 6 is not a toy, as it stands 14+ on the box... Instead of 13+...They are also demanding CE marking from 1 jan 25 or 24... Its mean the stuff is going to be even more expensive.. What about a yearly payment for the driving license... They are real shakals "coyoties"...

they're probably taking notes from what the FAA is doing here in the US. That's pretty typical. When you are really focused on split-second decisions while piloting, your brain kind of throws away the extra pixels of the HD, and you have momentary tunnel vision. Today, I threw away all my goggles and used a gaming monitor with Walksnail for my adrenaline dives. It has nothing to do with technology metrics. It is mostly for convenience. The monitor was Velcro taped to my car steering wheel and the VRX was on the dashboard. The temperature outside was 18 degrees F.

I would argue latency and picture quality dont matter nearly as much for freestyle as they do for racing. There are actual measurable differences in racing performance when running lower latency. For just cruising around, there isn't really a point in having amazing quality FPV equipment, other than maybe range
